Drawn to the energy of Helsinki’s startup scene, Elmira took her fourth semester to Finland, diving into AI-driven digital platforms with Digiole before retreating to Denmark for some serious thesis focus. 🇫🇮➡️🇩🇰

📚 Her thesis, “Generative Artificial Intelligence: Assessing the Influence on Workforce Patterns in Destination Management Companies,” opened doors to deep discussions with industry experts and gave her fresh perspectives on the future of AI in tourism! 🤖✨

💼 Now based in Baku, she’s bringing her EMTM insights into the world of luxury events at The Ritz-Carlton.

Last week, the students of the EMTM 2023-2025 cohort went on a field trip as part of the sustainable tourism management course! 🌿

🚌 They kicked things off with a scenic bus ride to the island of Mali Lošinj in Croatia, enjoyed fresh orange juice on arrival, and had a fascinating dolphin lecture at the Blue World Institute. 🐬

🌊 They also explored a cool museum, visited an old boat, and swam in beautiful blue waters. So much learning and fun in a stunning location and a great way to end the semester! ✨

🎓 After graduating from EMTM in 2019, James moved to Brussels and started working for the European Travel Commission as an intern in the Research and Development department. 🇪🇺

🧑‍💻 "In this role, I advised the national tourism organisations of Europe, providing insights on the evolving status of European tourism, travel sentiment and trends in key source markets and on implementing sustainable tourism initiatives." 🎯

📍 He's currently based in England, where he's working as a Digital Trends Analyst at the Digital Tourism Think Tank. 💭

🌿 With a passion for environmental and social responsibility, Petra decided to focus her research project on the realm of employee satisfaction within Slovenia's hospitality sector. 🇸🇮

✍️ "What resonated with me the most was the prospect of making a tangible, positive impact on workplace employee satisfaction within my country. Within the pages of my master's thesis, you will find a collection of recommendations and methods designed to enhance employee satisfaction, motivation, and retention for employers operating in this sector." 📌

👉 She also undertook an internship at Bureau Veritas, a renowned international company specialising in laboratory testing, inspection, and certification services.

One year after submitting her EMTM master's thesis, Sara started her PhD research at Universitetet i Stavanger in Norway. 📚🇳🇴

👩‍💻 "My research is regarding screen tourism from a sustainable development perspective. I’m studying the sustainable development narratives of the different stakeholders involved (in the Norwegian context) and how these make sense of sustainability in relation to screen tourism development. ✨

👉 "The biggest challenge in screen tourism development is how a variety of different stakeholders are involved, with different levels of influence and interest – from the film industry, tourism industry, public institutions, and private entities - all focused on their own agendas and busy schedules. My research therefore aims to provide insights on how these challenges can be improved." 🎯

🌍 From exploring European wonders to cherishing local gems in Denmark, this semester was a whirlwind of memories for the students of the 2023-2025 cohort. 🎓

Amidst it all, the quiet moments in Kolding —the shared dinners, game nights, and laughter echoing through school corridors— hold a special place in their heart as they depart. 🇩🇰🫂

Now, as they wrap up their time in Denmark, everyone is heading in different directions: some back home, others off to explore. Along the way, they have learned a lot about tourism in the classrooms. 🗺️📚

Farewells are filled with bittersweet nostalgia for school days and adventurous nights. Excitement builds for the next chapter in Ljubljana, where the promise of fresh experiences awaits. 🇸🇮

📌 Yesterday, the PATA University of Girona EMTM Student Chapter hosted an engaging event before the Christmas holidays: "Exploring the Journey of a Conscious Business" with Raquel Priego, Co-traveler & Founder of Trip to Help. 👩‍💻

🗣️ From Raquel's inspiring insights on her business journey to a workshop focused on self-discovery, including ikigai exploration and a meditation session, students left feeling motivated, inspired and grateful for the valuable lessons shared and the positive energy that filled the room! 🙌🏼🌟

🤩 Captivated by the chaotic blend of architectural wonders, youthful vibes and hygge culture, Junanto Xu (EMTM 2021-2023) decided to return to Denmark and settle down in Copenhagen for his fourth semester of the EMTM program. 🇩🇰

📚 While exploring the concept of "sustainability storytelling" for his academic project, he also worked as a research and communication specialist at Group NAO, an innovation and consultancy agency focused on the visitor economy. 🎯

👉 "The best part of the thesis is that I had the opportunity to discuss the topic with leading experts in sustainability communications and DMO practitioners across the Nordics, which was particularly rewarding and insightful." 💡
