The last event of CALESA took place in January 2024 at the University of Málaga.

It was a three-day event that focused on sharing the project's results and good practices and lauching new discussions on legal modernization in the Philippines, paving the road for future academic collaborations.

Members from all Filipino partners - University of the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila University, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, University of San Agustin and the Philippine Judicial Academy - participated in the event alognside members of CALESA European partners from Portugal, Spain and Ireland.

The event marked not only the end of the four-year-project, but also the beginning of future collaborative actions between its partners, such as the implementation of the UP-UMA office at UMA and UP to foster mobility opportunities, research collaboration and joint project develeopment.

Today University of San Agustin - Iloilo is hosting the second session of CALESA’s seminar on the modernization of private law (act. 2.10).

This is the second day of the second session of the seminar, which started on the 17th at the University of the Philippines!

The event is being streamed online, live and we invite you all to join, as it will be taking place until the 21st July. Just access University of San Agustin’s Facebook profile to watch and participate!

Today the University of the Philippines hosted the first session of seminar 2.10 on the modernization of private law.

The session focused on the new challenges faced by legal professionals within competition and financial law. Professor Miguel Moura, from NOVA School of Law and Professor Lukasz Grzejdziak, from UCD Sutherland School of Law were the speakers for the day.

The seminar will continue throughout the week at University of San Agustin - Iloilo, in Iloilo.

OUR NEXT Calesa ACTIVITIES AT UCD Sutherland School of Law ARE READY! Seminar on Gender and Legal Education (3-4 July 2023) and Seminar on Common Law and Continental Law Systems: a double approach for the modernization of Private Law in the Philippines (4-5 July 2023).
These events will serve as a platform for distinguished participants to engage in thought-provoking discussions, exchange ideas, and foster collaborations in the realm of the modernization of the Philippine legal system taking into consideration the idiosyncrasies found within common and continental law systems and of its legal higher education approaches to the teaching of law, especially through a more gender-based perspective.

DAY 4 of Calesa Project Seminar "Current Challenges and Common Values: Fostering Regional Integration within the ASEAN" at Ateneo de Manila University.
We're having a concluding Session about ASEAN Cooperation on Human Rights and the Philippine Position on Regional Initiatives and Key Issues with Ms. Karen S. Gomez-Dumpit (former Commissioner, Commission on Human Rights of the Philippines) and Atty. Ray Paolo J. Santiago (Ateneo de Manila University), along with interventions or observations from EU professors.
