Introducing Daniel 🌟
A self-proclaimed "pop-culture obsessive fascinated by the cultural side of wine," Daniel is one of the first students to join WINTOUR from Colombia! 🇨🇴 Daniel started his career in marketing before deciding to shift paths and explore something more meaningful to him: wine. 🍷

Daniel spent last summer (his first two WINTOUR internships) at Avignonesi in Montepulciano, Italy, moving between hospitality and cellar work. 🍇 From premium visitor experiences to working hands-on with low-intervention amphora wines, the experience gave him a full perspective on winemaking. Life in a Tuscan villa, with two donkeys he still misses, Ernesto and Regina, and a daily glass of Sangiovese, made it all the more memorable. For his final WINTOUR semester, Daniel is currently part of the communications team at VINSEUM, Museum of the wine cultures of Catalunya in Vilafranca del Penedès. 🏛️ His role spans digital marketing, audience development, and contributing to the museum’s future tourism strategy.

Through the WINTOUR Master, Daniel combines his background in marketing with a growing expertise in wine and culture. He looks forward to designing experiences that expand wine and cultural spaces to more inclusive and diverse audiences. ✨

Introducing Cristina 🌟
From Yucatán, México 🇲🇽 Cristina joined WINTOUR with a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism: a double diploma from the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán, México and the Université d’Angers, France. It was during her time in Angers, located in the Pays de la Loire wine region, that Cristina had her first meaningful exposure to the wine world. After this first interaction, the curiosity stayed with her and eventually led her to discover the WINTOUR program. 🍷

Cristina spent her first two WINTOUR internships––wine tourism and then harvest/winemaking––with Vins i Olis Suñer in Catalunya, Spain. 🇪🇸 For her final internship this semester she extended her time in Porto and has been working with The Wine Experience at the World of Wine. Her academic background strongly rooted in social sciences has shaped the way Cristina analyzes and questions the connections between people, culture, and different industries––including the wine world. 🌎

Traveling, discovering new places, trying different gastronomies and engaging with diverse traditions are just some of Cristina's favorite things. She also has a strong curiosity for languages and the way they shape communication and connection. Cristina sees wine as a complex but fundamentally cultural world meant to be approached with curiosity rather than intimidation. She believes the wine industry has an important role to play in making people feel more confident about discovering and enjoying wine, even without being experts. 🥂

Introducing Rachael 🌟
Coming to us from India 🇮🇳 Rachael (or Raquelita, as she has been re-baptised by WINTOUR) brings a wide range of diverse experiences to the program: from sociology and anthropology to fashion, and then to tourism, where she found her niche as a Luxury Travel Designer. In addition to sipping a good wine every now and then, Rachael's work in tourism grew her curiosity about wine regions and wine tourism, which led her to WINTOUR! 🍷

Rachael completed her first internship with Bodegas C'an Vidalet in Mallorca, before starting her love story with the Douro Valley 🇵🇹 during her winemaking internship at Churchill's Quinta da Gricha. She got her hands and feet dirty (literally!) harvesting in the UNESCO-recognised terraced vineyards, and also got to participate in the traditional foot-treading/grape-stomping in a lagar. 🍇 Now she's once again fully embracing her "Quinta" era, back in the Douro Valley interning at the Visitor's Centre of Quinta Casal de Celeirós, where she's developing new wine tourism products and helping them enhance their overall guest experience at the winery.

Rachael is all about slow travel and authentic immersive experiences. Every time she visits a new country, you'll find her tracking down the best local gastronomy AND dancing the night away at a Bachata-Salsa-Kizomba socials night! 💃🏾 Rachael really embraces and embodies this quote that has stuck with her for years: "The more I learn, the more I realise how little I know." A perfect encapsulation of her WINTOUR experience! 🥂

Introducing Eugenia 🌟
Eugenia joins WINTOUR from Armenia 🇦🇲 with a Master's Degree and work experience in Sustainable Tourism. After her Erasmus exchange at the Complutense University of Madrid, she returned to Armenia, where she worked as a tourism project manager. At the same time, she founded the first accessible tourism organization in Armenia, “Accessible Armenia” NGO. Following this experience, Eugenia decided to explore the world of wine tourism as a key segment of community-based tourism: she discovered WINTOUR and, fortunately, was accepted into the program. 🍷

Eugenia got a taste of island life for her first internship at Bodegas Monje in Tenerife, Spain 🇮🇨 before joining the team at Weingut Carl Ehrhard in Rüdesheim, Germany for the 2025 harvest. 🍇 Now, she's back in Spain for her final internship with Exitalia International Consulting in Albacete. Eugenia is so glad to be part of the WINTOUR family, where she's been able to grow her experience in sustainable tourism within the wine world. She believes that responsibly managed wine tourism can make tourism more sustainable, benefiting both local communities and wineries in the region. 🌏

Introducing William 🌟

Joining us from Brasil 🇧🇷 William's journey to WINTOUR has taken lots of turns. From a career Sergeant in the Brazilian Army, to working in technology exports to the US and Latin America, a Sommelier course changed William's life 🍷 bringing him into the wine industry as an entrepreneur. After completing the course, he ran his own wine business in Brasil and worked providing consulting to wine businesses and AOPs (wine producing areas). William brings all of this experience plus an intimate knowledge of Brasil's wine scene to WINTOUR.

William spent his first two internships in Portugal 🇵🇹 first with Churchill's in Vila Nova de Gaia, and then with Quinta da Gricha, where he spent the 2025 harvest working in the beautiful Douro Valley. Now, he's completing his final semester internship with Casa Rojo, based in Murcia and Ribera del Duero, Spain. 🇪🇸

Through WINTOUR, William has accomplished some of his biggest goals: visiting some of the world's greatest wine regions, networking with industry professionals, and exchanging with our international colleagues in a rich cultural environment. 🌎 William says, "it was a long journey, and I'm very proud of myself. WINTOUR made my dreams come true." 🥂

Introducing Omara 🌟
The first Bolivian student to join the WINTOUR programme, Omara brings a strong curiosity about how wine tourism develops in different parts of the world. After seeing the emerging wine regions and growing wine culture in Bolivia 🇧🇴 she wanted to learn more. Omara's background in tourism management and experience in branding perfectly complements what she's been learning in WINTOUR, as she has always been interested in how destinations are built and communicated.

Omara spent her first two WINTOUR internships in Hungary🇭🇺 first with winetourism.com, and then with Szászi Birtok in the beautiful Badascony region for the harvest last fall. 🍇 Now, Omara is completing her final internship with Midland Press Urban Winery in Birmingham, UK. 🇬🇧 Throughout WINTOUR, Omara has found her strength in storytelling and creating digital content, documenting everything, from vineyard moments to behind the scenes experiences, and turning them into stories. In fact, our classmates often joke about “Omara’s selfie stick” because she somehow always manages to fit everyone into a group photo with just her arm. 🤳

Introducing Damiana 🌟
A Sicilian woman enjoying a Spanish life, Damiana joined WINTOUR with a previous Master's Degree in Destination Management, after working in educational design shaping and delivering training through European funding management. During her WINTOUR internships, Damiana has been able to return to both of her homes 🇮🇹 First, her native Sicily, where she spent time with Strada del Vino del Val di Noto (a Sicilian wine route in the south-east), working in Noto and visiting the association's members throughout Siracusa and Ragusa. She also spent the 2025 harvest season with Etnella, a winery on the feet of Mount Etna, producing natural wines. Now, she's back in her second home in Spain 🇪🇸 finishing her final internship with Bodegas Familiares Matarromera in Valbuena del Duero (Ribera del Duero DO), working between Matarromera and Emina wineries.

True to the roots of her two homes, Damiana describes herself as Nerello Mascalese (versatile, volcanic, and elegant) 🍇 . . . and she's a huge fan of CAVA, too! 🍾 She particularly loves exploring wine tourism destinations, one sip at a time, discovering the authenticity and uniqueness of rural life––never without her trusty backpack. 🎒

Introducing Tamari 🌟

Coming to us from Georgia 🇬🇪 Tamari joined WINTOUR with extensive experience and a Bachelor's degree in Enology and Viticulture from the Georgian Agricultural University. 🍇 During her studies, she was awarded an Erasmus scholarship, which allowed her to study International Wine Business at Geisenheim University in Germany. She continued her academic path at the Georgian Technical University, where she received another Erasmus grant to study winemaking in Italy, focusing on practical and theoretical training in Trapani, Sicily.

Tamari returned to her roots at Geisenheim University for two of her WINTOUR internships, completing the other at Szászi Birtok in Badascony, Hungary. When she's not studying or making wine, Tamari loves to get creative through photography and music. 📸 Throughout her career, she has gained hands-on experience in the wine industry, working as an assistant winemaker, sommelier, and wine ambassador. These roles have allowed her to develop both technical expertise in winemaking and strong communication skills in presenting and promoting wine to diverse audiences. 🍷
