MIUC celebrated its Sport Festival, bringing together students, alumni, faculty and staff for an afternoon of sport, friendly competition and community spirit across our campus facilities.

Participants made the most of MIUC’s on-campus sports facilities and the Marbella weather, competing in tennis, swimming, volleyball, football, basketball and ping pong throughout the afternoon. One of the highlights was the running challenge up Sierra Blanca and back to MIUC, combining endurance, sport and the opportunity to enjoy Marbella’s unique surroundings.

Having sports facilities directly on campus gives our students further opportunities to stay active, connect with one another and enjoy MIUC life beyond the classroom.

Sport was only part of the day. Students, alumni, faculty and staff had the opportunity to relax, socialise and reconnect over traditional Spanish paella, accompanied by a refreshing unlimited personalised ice cream service — particularly welcome after an afternoon of activity.

The festival concluded with a medal award ceremony, celebrating sporting achievements, participation and, above all, the spirit in which everyone took part.

The MIUC Sport Festival was a reminder that university life extends far beyond the classroom. MIUC is a community, and opportunities to play sport, spend time together and build relationships across students, alumni, faculty and staff are an important part of that experience.

Tennis, swimming, volleyball, football, basketball, ping pong and running — seven disciplines, one MIUC community. Same passion, new academic year, and many more memories to create together.

University can shape more than what students know. It can also change how they think about their future.

In this student Q&A, Angath shares how he hopes to apply his learning to the business side of the film industry, challenges a familiar stereotype about university life, and reflects on the professor who has pushed him to learn in new ways. 🎬

Starting university is a big transition, especially when a student is entering a new academic environment and community.

For Dr Beata Fröhlich, one of the most important things is that students feel at home from their very first day at MIUC. 💙 Feeling heard, receiving personalised guidance and developing a genuine sense of belonging can help students settle in with greater confidence.

What helps a university begin to feel like home?

One useful question when considering a university is: “Who can students turn to when they need guidance?” 🧭 Independence matters, but so does knowing that support is available when an academic challenge or important decision comes up.

At MIUC, the smaller learning environment helps make personal access and guidance part of everyday university life. Whether it is clarifying an assignment, developing an idea or exploring a new academic interest, students have opportunities to ask questions, seek direction and take ownership of their next step.

When comparing universities, it is worth considering what kind of support helps students become more confident and independent.

A familiar face, a thoughtful conversation or someone to exchange ideas with can make a new university environment feel much more welcoming. 🤝 Academic progress matters, but so do the everyday connections that help students feel comfortable, supported and part of a community.

At MIUC, the international environment creates opportunities to meet people from different backgrounds, share perspectives and build relationships naturally through classes and life beyond them. Over time, these connections can contribute to a stronger sense of belonging and greater confidence in university life. When considering a new campus, it is worth asking what kind of community would make it feel like the right place.

Welcome to MIUC — your university journey starts here!

Induction Week 2026 was about much more than timetables and practical information. It was about welcoming our new and returning students into the MIUC community.

Students were officially welcomed by MIUC Dean Dr Beata Froehlich, LLM, marking the beginning of a new academic year — and, for our new students, the beginning of their university journey.

At MIUC, we do things differently. Buildings can be replicated. Programmes can be replicated. Culture cannot.

We do not believe in mass education. We believe in people. Our personalised learning environment means that from the moment you walk through our doors, we want you to feel that you matter, you belong and you are supported.

From meeting lecturers, personal tutors and support teams to exploring Blackboard, library resources, careers, wellbeing, student life and the UWL London Exchange Programme, our students began discovering everything available to them at MIUC. There was also an interactive campus tour, including our sports facilities, a special welcome for parents, traditional churros and a healthy lunch in MIUC canteen.

Personalised education works when we all engage. Like an orchestra, every person contributes to the whole.

So, to our students: be curious, get involved, have fun and keep learning.

MIUC is with you for life — and the rest of your life starts now. Welcome to the journey! 🎓✨

For parents, understanding university life means looking beyond the timetable. It is also about the everyday details: somewhere to concentrate, a shared lunch with classmates and small routines that help a new place feel familiar. 🌿

At MIUC in Marbella, classrooms, quiet study corners, gardens and terraces form part of that daily experience. Alongside academic responsibilities, there is room for conversation, connection and a welcome pause. As you support their university choice, these spaces offer a glimpse of how they might spend their days and gradually find their own rhythm.

When looking at campus photos together, ask which spaces they can picture becoming part of their routine.

When your son or daughter talks about life at MIUC, you hope to hear about people as well as progress. 🙌 Our smaller, international community gives students opportunities to build relationships across cultures, get to know different perspectives and find common ground through learning together.

A project partner can become a friend, and a conversation after class can lead to an invitation to lunch. For parents considering MIUC, these everyday connections matter alongside academic achievement. They can give your son or daughter people to share ideas with, turn to for encouragement and celebrate milestones alongside. University is not only preparation for their future, but also a time to build friendships and a community that feels like their own.

When you talk about MIUC together, make room for one more question: what would help them feel they belong?

At MIUC, learning independently does not have to mean studying alone. 📚 Our smaller, international community places personal relationships at the centre of the learning experience, giving your son or daughter opportunities to build connections with classmates who bring different perspectives.

A shared study session can start with lecture notes and lead to a useful question: “How did you reach that conclusion?” Explaining an idea, comparing approaches and recognising what still needs clarification make those conversations more than an exchange of answers. For parents considering MIUC, the value is in that balance: students supporting one another while taking responsibility for their own understanding.

What do you hope your son or daughter gains from the people they study alongside at MIUC?
