The teenage years come with a lot of change, and school is one of the places where much of it happens.

It is where young people test ideas, build independence, form friendships and gradually become more comfortable in their own skin. Some of the most important moments are not always the obvious ones. A conversation on the way to class, a joke with friends, a sense of being known and accepted.

Feeling that you belong can make all the difference.

We are delighted to welcome Eduardo Torrecillas to the Escola Global community as our new Principal!

Eduardo brings extensive experience in international education, school leadership, academic standards, accreditation and educational improvement, having served as Head of Academic Standards and Improvement, Head of Accreditation, IB Diploma Programme Coordinator and Cognia Coordinator.

Originally from Spain, Eduardo’s educational journey has taken him to the United States, where he studied Kinesiology and Exercise and Nutritional Sciences at San Diego State University and later completed a Doctorate in Educational Leadership at Arkansas State University. He has worked across a range of educational settings, including San Diego State University, Miramar College, Mission Bay High School and, most recently, Gresol International American School.

Sport, exercise and wellbeing have always been an important part of Eduardo’s life and professional interests. Additionally, Eduardo’s passion for organizational leadership has focused on the influence of leadership on teachers’ wellbeing. This reflects his belief that strong leadership and a positive school environment are essential for fostering educators and students to thrive.

At the heart of his educational philosophy is the belief that every student deserves access to a high-quality education and the opportunity to discover and reach their full potential. As he begins this new chapter at Escola Global, Eduardo is looking forward to listening, learning and collaborating with students, families and staff to build on the school’s strengths and continue its journey of growth and excellence.

“I am incredibly excited to join Escola Global and begin this journey together with the whole community. I look forward to listening, learning and working collaboratively to build on the wonderful work already taking place at the school.”

Welcome to Escola Global, Edu! We are very excited to have you with us.

Some of the best parts of a school day are the ones that do not need much organising.

A football, a patch of grass, a group of friends and enough time to play.

These moments matter. They build friendships, confidence, teamwork and independence, while giving children the space to move, compete, laugh and reset.

Sometimes, play is exactly what is needed.

A sense of belonging is built in moments like these.

Friendships, shared jokes, time outdoors and the freedom to simply be together all shape how children feel about school. When students feel comfortable, connected and part of something, it creates the confidence to participate, take risks and be themselves.

School is about learning, of course. But it is also about the people you learn alongside.

There is a quiet confidence that comes from working something out for yourself.

In maths, that confidence is built through practice: testing an idea, checking the result, spotting where something went wrong and trying again. The answer matters, but so does the thinking that gets you there.

Over time, those small moments of persistence become something much bigger. The belief that a difficult problem is something you can solve, not something to avoid.

Some of the most important learning happens in the moment between being shown how to do something and being able to work it out for yourself.

A good classroom gives children the space to ask questions, make mistakes, try again and gradually build confidence in their own thinking.

That process may look simple from the outside, but it is where real understanding starts to take shape.

Learning does not only happen at a desk! Time outdoors, movement and play are an important part of the school day at Escola Global. They give students space to be active, connect with one another, build confidence and simply enjoy being together.

Whether through organised sport or spontaneous games with friends, these moments develop teamwork, resilience and a sense of belonging, while giving children the freedom to move, recharge and return to the classroom ready to learn.

A healthy school day should make room for both ✨🌱

There is something special about a classroom where getting messy is part of the learning.

Through art, students experiment with colour, texture, form and different materials, learning to trust their ideas and see where the creative process takes them. Sometimes that means painting. Sometimes it means sculpting. Often, it means trying something, changing it, and trying again.

The finished piece matters, of course. But so does everything that happens along the way: curiosity, patience, observation, problem-solving and the confidence to create something that is entirely your own! 🎨✨💙

Why do students thrive at EG?

Because they don’t just learn what to think. They learn how to question, collaborate, create and discover.

That’s the foundation for confident learners and confident young people.
