MER MSc 2026–2028 Preparatory Webinar

We were delighted to welcome our new MER 2026-2028 cohort, who are preparing to join us this September. At the beginning of the program, MER Program Coordinator Professor Ionan Marigomez gave a short presentation on financial details, reduced tuition fees, administrative issues, refund processes, and the upcoming introductory week in Bilbao, Spain.

The session also included valuable guidance from Cecilia D’Angelo, SOTON Coordinator at the University of Southampton, and Patrícia Ventura Garcia, Coordinator at the University of Azores. Shahin S. Eity, EMA Vice-President, introduced the Erasmus Mundus Association and the opportunities it offers to students, while Dibash Deb, MER student and Program Representative in EMA, shared practical advice from his own MSc mobility experience, including visas, accommodation, and travel.

We also thank Jon Bazeta, MER+ Secretariat, for being present. Professor Ionan Marigomez warmly welcomed everyone and answered students' questions throughout the session. We are excited to begin this journey with such a diverse and motivated cohort.

🌊🧪 Exploring the Dynamic Ecosystems of the Urdaibai and Bilbao Estuaries! 🐚🌿

Students recently went on an exciting journey into the heart of two unique estuarine ecosystems as part of their course "Degradation and Rehabilitation of Estuarine Ecosystems" 🔍📚

🛶 Trip 1: Bilbao Estuary
Students conducted field sampling at various points to assess biodiversity 🐠🪸 and the overall health of the estuary 🌡️🧬

🌅 Trip 2: Urdaibai Estuary
They performed visual assessments of habitat types, communities 🦀🌾, human activities 🏗️🚢, and conservation status 🛡️ to understand the health and sustainability of this vital ecosystem.

💡 These hands-on field studies are crucial to understanding and rehabilitating degraded estuaries for a healthier planet! 🌍💚
