JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
The Center for Education of Global Communication (CEGLOC) at the University of Tsukuba is seeking
applicants for Assistant Professor or Associate Professor.
1. Position
Full-time non-tenured Assistant Professor, or full-time non-tenured Associate Professor based on a
comprehensive evaluation including research achievements (One position)
2. Term of Employment
Three years, plus two additional years based on a renewal assessment (non-tenure track)
* For candidates with previous employment history at the University of Tsukuba (e.g., part-time),
the term may be shortened in accordance with the regulations of the university.
3. Start of Employment
April 1, 2023
* Salary is based on age, qualifications, and experience, as per university policy.
* The annual salary system is applied; a commutation allowance is paid in addition.
4. Field of Study
Teaching Spanish as a Foreign/Second Language, and Spanish-Speaking Culture
5. Responsibilities
(1) Eight 75-minute Spanish classes per week (both spring semester and fall semester)
The classes are aimed at developing students' academic and practical Spanish language abilities.
(2) Administrative tasks for developing students’ Spanish communicative competence
(3) Other administrative tasks for CEGLOC and the related faculties
6. Qualifications
(1) Native or near-native speaker of Spanish
(2) A doctoral degree, or the expected attainment of a doctoral degree prior to employment is
preferable.
(3) Experience in teaching Spanish as a second/foreign language
(4) Working level of Japanese proficiency

(6) Offprints or photocopies of the main publications listed in (2)
(7) Summaries of the main publications listed in (2) within 400 words each in English or 800
characters in Japanese (free format)
(8) Cover letter with the applicant’s email address and telephone number (free format)
(9) Applicants located in the countries that make up the European Economic Area or in the United
Kingdom of Great Britain must submit “Consent to Processing and Extraterritorial Transfer of

* Short-listed candidates will be invited for an interview in Japanese and Spanish that may include
microteaching demonstration. Travel expenses will be borne by the applicant. Interviews for
applicants residing abroad will be conducted in an alternative manner. However, interviews might
be held online, depending on the state of the coronavirus pandemic.
