Ulysseus European University successfully delivered the Ulysseus Summer School on Innovative Pedagogy, hosted by Università di Genova from 18–22 May 2026 🇮🇹

This Blended Intensive Programme brought together participants for an advanced professional development experience inspired by the Ulysseus Pedagogical Guidelines 📚 Through a mix of online preparation and five intensive on-site days, participants explored innovative, student-centred, and future-oriented teaching approaches.

Interactive workshops, peer exchange, and reflective activities focused on key principles such as competence-based course design, authentic and challenge-based learning, and the meaningful use of digital tools and AI 💡🤖

By combining theory with hands-on practice and international perspectives, the Summer School supported participants in shaping innovative teaching strategies aligned with the Ulysseus educational vision 🌍

🌍 Honouring Africa’s Heritage and Future 🌍

Africa Day marks a meaningful occasion to celebrate the diversity, culture, and achievements of the African continent. Commemorating the founding of the Organization of African Unity (now the African Union) on May 25, 1963, it reminds us of Africa’s ongoing journey towards unity, independence, and sustainable prosperity. 🎉

This day highlights the richness of Africa’s heritage and its global contributions—from art, music, and literature to innovation, entrepreneurship, and resilience. It is also a time to reflect on the progress made in advancing peace, stability, and sustainable development across the continent. 🌿✨

At Ulysseus, integrity and cooperation are at the heart of everything we do. Guided by these values, we launched the NEEMA project 🌍, which adapts the EU’s Green Deal and Farm to Fork Strategy to the specific needs of the Sahel and West Africa. By strengthening food and nutritional security—particularly for vulnerable communities—NEEMA supports higher education institutions in building resilience and driving sustainable solutions.

This week, the Blended Intensive Programme (BIP): Explore Cultures and Enhance Skills in International Business, hosted by Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences in collaboration with the Technical University of Košice, Université Côte d'Azur , and Università di Genova, delivered a truly engaging and impactful experience.

The programme brought together students and faculty in a vibrant international setting to explore the connections between intercultural communication and global business practices. Through interactive lectures, workshops, and hands-on sessions in state-of-the-art labs, participants gained valuable insights into AI, digital tools, and innovative problem-solving approaches.

A key highlight was the project-based collaboration, where international teams worked with a commissioner to address real-world challenges. This not only strengthened critical thinking, teamwork, and adaptability, but also deepened understanding of global marketing and cross-cultural customer engagement.
An enriching and memorable experience that truly highlights the power of international collaboration and experiential learning. 👏

From Seville to Dakar: Strengthening Food Resilience through NEEMA 🌍

A team from the University of Seville is currently in Dakar advancing the NEEMA project, an international initiative focused on improving food and nutritional resilience.

Representatives from the University of Seville are leading a range of key activities. These include delivering in-person training for Module 7 on project management 📊, equipping participants with practical skills to design and implement resilience-focused initiatives.

The team is also engaging in meetings with local academics and researchers 🤝 to strengthen collaboration, while presenting the NEEMA Toolkit 🧰—a practical resource developed to support project implementation.

In addition, they are conducting field surveys with farmers and rural communities 🌱, gathering valuable insights to inform future actions under the project. Their agenda also includes participation in an institutional visit organized by EACEA to Cheikh Anta Diop University, reinforcing partnerships at an international level.

A meaningful step forward in cooperation, knowledge exchange, and tackling global food security challenges.
