𝗟𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿🌊 Over the past few days, we’ve brought together professionals from the Mediterranean and across the Atlantic to explore practical pathways towards more efficient, circular and sustainable systems.
The course focused on three key approaches: , Recirculating Aquaculture Systems ( ), and Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture ( ).
Beyond the technical foundations, the programme placed strong emphasis on real-world applicability, especially for small-scale economies and coastal or rural areas where resources may be limited.
We also had the chance to visit:
🔹Green in Blue: an example of aquaponics as a commercial model.
🔹Fundació Mercè Pla: an innovative Portable Aquaponic Unit developed for educational and social purposes.
The course has been organised together with Institut de Recerca i Tecnologies Agrolimentàries - IRTA and with the support of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the Mexican government through CIBNOR-SECIHTI (Secretaría de Ciencia), the General Fisheries Commission for the Mediterranean (GFCM) of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) through the Local Action Group Terres de l’Ebre.
Thanks to all participants, speakers and partners for contributing to four very productive days.
