Adama Hospital Medical College (AHMC) Successful conducted training on Research Ethics and Scientific Integrity for Members Institutional Ethical Review (IRB) and Researchers of Adama Hospital Medical College in collaboration with Ministry of Education.
The Training aims to strengthen Institutional capacity in Upholding the highest ethical standards in research, Promoting transparency, accountability, and respect for knowledge from prospective of Ethiopian National Research policy and standards.
In his opening remark, Dr. Abdinasir Wako (MD & Assistant Prof), Academic and Research Vice Provost of AHMC, welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of the training in building highest ethical standards in research and strengthening a culture of Scientific integrity and inspires innovation among the researchers of AHMC based Ethiopian National Research policy and standards.
Dr.Serawit Handiso(PhD), CEO, Research and Community Engagement Affairs, FDRE Ministry of Education, Present short Overview of Scientific Integrity,visibility and granting practices in Higher Education of Ethiopia. In his discussions with trainig participants, he expressed his appreciation for Human Resources Composition of researchers at AHMC and thier expriences. He also commended the efforts being done by AHMc’s administrarion to register and accreditate the college as one of the Research Organization in Ethiopia including registration of IRERC.
The training on Evolution of Bioethics and fundamentals of Research Ethics was also given by Dr.Abulie Takele(MPH,PhD), Desk Head for Research Ethics, Ministry of Education(MoE).
On second day, the training on different topics including, National Research Ethics Guidelines, SOP Development for REC Operations and Requirement for Registration of IRERC was given by Mr.Andualem Ayele, Research Ethics Expert at MoE.
In his closing remark, Dr.Abdinasir Wako, Academic & Research V/Provost of AHMC, Highlights the importance of this kind of workshop in training researchers and equipping them with the essential skills to make AHMC a strong and competitive research organization with highest ethical standards in research.
Dr.Abdinasir Wako, finally thanked the Guest trainers and ensured the continuation of this kind of collaborative initiative with Ministry of Education(MoE) and expressed AHMC’s strong commitment to empowering its researchers, promoting multi-Institution collaboration, and enhancing the institution’s research competitiveness at both national and international level.
