Degree Certificates to Be Printed at a Single Center
Addis Ababa, May 12, 2026 (FMC) – The Ministry of Education has announced that the printing of degree certificates for graduates of higher education institutions will be carried out at a single centralized center.
According to Dr. Solomon Abraha, Chief Executive for Administration and Infrastructure of Higher Education Institutions at the Ministry, the new system is aimed at preventing fraudulent academic credentials.
Previously, all higher education institutions used to print students’ certificates through companies that won bids. However, this system had become vulnerable to the production of fake academic documents.
Therefore, both public and private higher education institutions will now be required to print their students’ degrees only through one central printing facility.
Until the new degree certificates are printed and delivered, the Ministry of Education will provide support letters for students who need proof of their qualifications. The printing process is expected to begin within this year.
The new certificates will meet security standards and will include features such as a unique identification code (QR code), serial numbers, and other security elements.
Students who graduated in the 2024/25 academic year (2017 E.C.) and those graduating afterward will receive their degrees only through this new centralized system.
Similarly, students who graduated before 2017 E.C. but have not yet collected their degrees will also be served under the new system.
The issuance of temporary degree certificates will continue as before.
It was also noted that verification work is currently underway in more than 160 federal institutions to identify fraudulent academic credentials. This effort will continue in regional states and the private sector as well.

አዲስ አበባ፣ ግንቦት 4፣ 2018 (ኤፍ ኤም ሲ) የከፍተኛ ትምህርት ተቋማት ተመራቂዎች የዲግሪ ሰርተፊኬት ህትመት በአንድ ማዕከል ብቻ ሊከናወን ነው አለ ትምህርት ሚኒስቴር።
በሚኒስቴሩ የከፍተኛ ትምህርት ተቋማት የአስተዳደርና መሰረተ ልማት መሪ ስራ አስፈጻሚ ሰለሞን አብርሃ (ዶ/ር) ለፋና ሚዲያ ኮርፖሬሽን እንዳሉት፤ አሰራሩ ሀሰተኛ የትምህርት ማስረጃን ለመከላከል ያለመ ነው፡፡
ከዚህ በፊት ሁሉም የከፍተኛ ትምህርት ተቋማት ጨረታ ባሸነፈ ድርጅት በኩል የተማሪዎችን የትምህርት ማስረጃ የሚያሳትሙበት አሰራር ለሀሰተኛ የትምህርት ማስረጃ አጋላጭ ሆኖ ቆይቷል ብለዋል፡፡
በመሆኑም ሁሉም የመንግሥት እና የግል ከፍተኛ ትምህርት ተቋማት የተማሪዎቻቸውን ዲግሪ በአንድ ማዕከል ብቻ እንዲያሳትሙ ይደረጋል ነው ያሉት፡፡
አዲሱ ዲግሪ ታትሞ እስኪደርስ ድረስ ትምህርት ሚኒስቴር ዲግሪ ለሚያስፈልጋቸው ተማሪዎች የድጋፍ ደብዳቤ እንደሚጽፍ ገልጸው፤ ህትመቱ በዚህ ዓመት እንደሚጀምር ጠቁመዋል።
የሚታተመው ሰርተፊኬት የደህንነት መለያ መስፈርቶችን እንደሚያሟላ ገልጸው፤ ልዩ መለያ ኮድ (QR Code) እና ሴሪያል ቁጥርን ጨምሮ ሌሎች መለያዎችን ያካተት እንደሚሆን ገልጸዋል።
በ2017 ዓ.ም የተመረቁ ተማሪዎችን ጨምሮ ከዚህ በኋላ የሚመረቁትም ሙሉ በሙሉ በአዲሱ ስርዓት መሰረት በአንድ ማዕከል የሚታተመውን ዲግሪ ብቻ እንዲወስዱ ይደረጋሉ ብለዋል፡፡
በተመሳሳይ ከ2017 ዓ.ም በፊት ተመርቀው ነገር ግን ዲግሪያቸውን ያልወሰዱ ተማሪዎች በአዲሱ አሰራር ብቻ እንደሚስተናገዱ አመልክተዋል።
ከዚህ በፊት በከፍተኛ የትምህርት ተቋማት ሲሰጥ የነበረው ጊዜያዊ የትምህርት ማስረጃ (Temporary Degree) አሰጣጥ በነበረበት እንደሚቀጥል ጠቁመዋል።
አሁን ላይ ከ160 በላይ በሚሆኑ የፌዴራል ተቋማት ላይ ሀሰተኛ የትምህርት ማስረጃ የማጥራት ስራ እየተከናወነ እንደሆነ አንስተው፤ በቀጣይ በክልሎች እና በግሉ ዘርፍ የማጥራት ስራው እንደሚቀጥል አመልክተዋል።
