Ambo University Senate Convenes Its First Regular Meeting for 2026/27 Academic Year.

Ambo University Senate held its 1st Regular Meeting, marking an important step in strengthening the institution’s academic leadership and governance for the 2026/27 academic year.

The meeting, presided over by Dr. Bayissa Leta, President of Ambo University, brought together Senate members for a full day of deliberations on key institutional matters at Wonchi Eco Lodge. Discussions were focused on different pertinent agendas including the readiness of all units for the 2026/27 academic year.
On its deliberation, the Senate has evaluated and approved Ambo University academic calander for 2026/27 (2019EC). In addition, various guidelines and the establishment of a research oriented center ("Institute of Environmental Science and Research") has been endorsed.

Besides, the promotion of Dr. Ayele Tulu from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor of Applied Mathematics was also endorsed by the Senate.

After thorough and constructive discussions, all agendas presented were approved unanimously, reflecting the Senate’s shared commitment to advancing academic excellence, institutional efficiency, and innovation.

The meeting concluded with a strong sense of collaboration and optimism, reaffirming Ambo University’s dedication to quality education, research, and community service.

Ambo University Delegates Participated in MANDELA Training Workshop in Linz, Austria

Linz, Austria – September 3, 2026: Ambo University has actively participated in a three-day Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop held in Linz, Austria, as part of the MANDELA Project under the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education programme.

The international training brought together representatives from partner universities and institutions from Africa and Europe, providing a valuable platform for knowledge exchange, professional development, networking, and strengthening international academic collaboration.

During the event, Dr. Solomon Alemu, representing Ambo University, addressed the participants and highlighted the University's strong commitment to international collaboration, partnership, knowledge exchange, and institutional capacity development. He emphasized that Ambo University is committed to actively contributing to international initiatives and strengthening sustainable partnerships that enhance the quality and relevance of higher education.

Ambo University Woliso Campus 2026 STEM Summer Camp

Ambo University Woliso Campus proudly certifies a total of 54 secondary school students who successfully completed the 2026 STEM Summer Camp Hands-On Training Program.

The students participated in intensive training over the past six weeks in two major areas: Full-Stack Web Development, with 29 students, and Python Programming and Machine Learning, with 25 students.

As part of the requirements for certification, the students successfully completed practical, project-based activities. During the graduation ceremony, six selected projects were presented, demonstrating the knowledge, creativity, and practical skills acquired throughout the training.

Indeed, these young students have demonstrated their tremendous potential by developing various applications and web-based solutions designed to address real and tangible community problems. Their creativity, innovation, and commitment clearly show that the younger generation is capable of contributing significantly to technological development. They are truly the hope of our nation in this rapidly advancing technological era.
