Ambo University Community Joins National 800 Million Seedlings Planting Campaign at Tullu Korma Indigenous Trees Research Site

The Ambo University community, led by senior management, academic, and administrative staffs, proudly participated in Ethiopia's historic 800 million seedlings planting campaign in a single day at the Tullu Korma Indigenous Trees Research Site.

The event demonstrated the university's strong commitment to environmental conservation, biodiversity protection, and the realization of the nation's Green Legacy Initiative. Thousands of indigenous tree seedlings were planted during the campaign, contributing to efforts aimed at restoring ecosystems, combating climate change, and creating a greener future.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Bayissa Leta, President of Ambo University, emphasized the importance of collective action in safeguarding the environment. Dr. Bayissa said "Our participation in this historic national campaign reflects Ambo University's commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship. Ambo University Conducted External Outcome-Based Curriculum Validation Workshops

Ambo University, recognized as an Applied Science University, has successfully conducted external outcome-based curriculum validation workshops across its Guder Mamo Mezemir Campus, Waliso Campus, and the College of Business and Economics. These workshops mark a significant step in strengthening the University’s commitment to academic excellence and the preparation of highly skilled manpower aligned with national and global needs.

In his opening address, Dr. Bayissa Leta, President of Ambo University, emphasized the importance of outcome-based curricula in ensuring that graduates are equipped with practical knowledge and competencies to meet the demands of the labor market. He highlighted that as an Applied Science University, Ambo University places strong emphasis on innovation, relevance, and transformative education.

The workshop was further enriched by the presence of Mr. Tesfaye Negewo from the Ministry of Education, who commended the University’s initiative and reaffirmed the Ministry’s support for institutions that prioritize outcome-based education. He underscored the role of such curricula in advancing Ethiopia’s educational reform agenda and in producing graduates capable of driving socio-economic development.
