It was a pleasure to be part of SQA Conference 2026 and connect with all the researchers, engineers, and industry professionals advancing superconducting quantum computing.

A conference dedicated specifically to superconducting qubits and algorithms provides a valuable opportunity to bring together experts from across the quantum computing stack, from device and system design to hardware, software, and applications. The discussions, presentations, and conversations throughout the week reflected both the progress being made today and the challenges that remain on the path to large-scale quantum computing.

Thank you to everyone who visited the Bluefors booth to discuss quantum infrastructure, modular cryogenic architectures, and the evolving quantum I/O solutions needed to scale superconducting qubit platforms.

The future of the quantum industry depends on a workforce ready to build and operate quantum hardware. The University of Oregon is equipping students with the skills to do just that.

In the Quantum and Nanotechnology track of its Applied Physics Master's Program, students combine classroom learning with hands-on training. They gain practical experience with the hardware, tools, and workflows used throughout the quantum industry.

Rather than following only the traditional path of specialization through a PhD program, graduates leave with practical skills that enable them to contribute immediately in industry and research environments.

The impact of the program is already visible. During the program's first year, students secured internships with Rigetti Computing, the Air Force Research Laboratory, and the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology, gaining hands-on experience and launching their careers in quantum.

Since then, the program has expanded and students have gone on to opportunities at a growing number of organizations across the quantum industry. This year, Bluefors also welcomed a trainee from the program to our Quantum Applications team.

In this video, produced by The Quantum Insider, University of Oregon Research Assistant Professor Nik Zhelev, director of the program, discusses the importance of hands-on training, industry-focused education, and preparing the next generation of quantum professionals.

Featured alongside Nik are Stephanie Howell, a PhD student studying the effects of materials and defects on superconducting qubit coherence, and Khubilai (Eli) Bayarsaikhan, a student from the program who is preparing to begin a PhD in Electrical Engineering at the University of Nevada, Reno.

Bluefors is delighted to announce that Greg Parker has become President, Cryocoolers, effective today.

In his new role, Greg will lead the Cryocoolers business based in Syracuse, New York, and become a member of the Bluefors Group Leadership Team. He succeeds Rich Dausman, who has decided to retire after an exceptional 50-year career and will remain with Bluefors through September 30, 2026, to support a smooth transition.

Greg Parker brings more than 20 years of leadership experience across industrial, technology, automotive, and aerospace sectors. Most recently, he served as Director of the HIS Business Unit at Marquardt for the Americas, where he held P&L responsibility for a portfolio of advanced sensors, switches, and electronics. During his career, he has led business growth initiatives, expanded commercial capabilities, developed new markets, and built high-performing cross-functional teams. Earlier, he held a range of leadership positions at Eaton, spanning product management, business development, sales leadership, and general management.

“I’m excited to join Bluefors and the Syracuse team. From my first conversations, it’s been clear that this is a company with exceptional people, innovative technology, and a bright future. I’m honored to have the opportunity to build on the strong foundation Rich has created and look forward to helping drive our next chapter of growth together,” Greg says.

As President, Greg will have full responsibility for the Cryocoolers business and its continued growth and performance. He will also play an important role in strengthening collaboration across the global Bluefors organization while supporting the company's commercial and operational development.
