Ammattikorkeakoulu Arcada, Prakticum ja Laerdal Medical Suomi toimivat ensi viikolla Nordic SUN Meeting 2024 isäntänä. Osallistujia useista maista, keynote-puheita ja työpajoja on luvassa.
✨ Next week a network of simulation enthusiasts will spark at Arcada, as the Nordic Simulation User (SUN) Meeting 2024 takes place. The aim is to share best practices and drive innovation in simulation training, enhancing healthcare education and patient care. Arcada’s simulation centre and cutting-edge expertise in simulation pedagogy make the perfect place for this to happen.
“Utilising Simulation as Cultural Catalyst” will be one of the keynote topics and our speaker Christoffer Ericsson (Degree Programme Director for EmergencyLead Master's Programme and Director of Arcada Patient Safety and Learning Center) gives us a sneak peek of his take-aways:
🛎 Simulation as a cultural catalyst
“In simulation we create moments of ‘cultural compression’ i.e. moments where signalled values and beliefs of professions are particularly strong. If we understand and explicitly acknowledge this, we can utilise simulation as a cultural catalyst; identifying and re-shaping our mental models and behavioural patterns to empower positive cultural dynamics, such as inclusivity, approachability and psychological safety.”
🛎 The ultimate responsibility of simulation faculty
“The first step to psychological safety is building a sense of inclusivity, a feeling of belonging in a group. For education and simulation-based learning, strengthening psychological safety and a sense of inclusivity, as well as role-modelling these, for students and professional peers, becomes the ultimate responsibility of all simulation faculty, independent of their context.“
🛎Facilitators’ reflectance on own values
“Great power comes with great responsibility. As simulation designers and facilitators, we are in positions of power, and we should acknowledge that our own values and practices shape how we act and what role-models we convey through them.”
Stay tuned… Next week we will show you more from our simulation environments as the SUN Meeting 2024 takes place.
