Maataloustieteiden osaston (MAAT) tehtävä on maa- ja puutarhatalouden kasvintuotantoa, kotieläintuotantoa sekä näiden teknologiaa koskeva tieteellinen tutkimus sekä siihen perustuva ylin opetus ja yhteiskunnallinen vaikuttaminen. Osaston opiskelijat valmistuvat maatalous-metsätieteiden maistereiksi ja saavuttavat agronomin arvon agroteknologian, biotekniikan, kasvintuotantotieteiden tai kotieläint

Osasto sijaitsee Viikin kampuksella. Siihen kuuluvat myös Viikin opetus- ja tutkimustila Helsingissä sekä Muddusjärven tutkimusasema Inarissa. Maataloustieteiden osasto toimii osana Helsingin yliopiston maatalous-metsätieteellistä tiedekuntaa.

The aim of the Department of Agricultural Sciences is to conduct research on plant production in agriculture and horticulture, animal production and technologies pertaining to them, as well as to provide the highest level education and wield societal influence based on the research. The Department is situated on the Viikki Campus, and comprises the Viikki Research Farm in Helsinki and the Muddusjärvi Research Station in Inari. The Department of Agricultural Sciences functions as part of the Faculty of Agriculture and Forestry at the University of Helsinki, Finland.
