FabLab as a part of University of Tampere, is located on the Hervanta campus. We are part of the FabLab network, which includes more than 1,750 FabLabs g
lobally. The network offers access to computer-controlled devices and thus promotes innovation. FabLab is a place to play, to create, to learn and share your skills. We provide access to the facilities, the skills, the materials, advanced technology and material professional staff. At FabLab, you can turn your own ideas into prototypes. The space with its machines is for the students, researchers and staff of the Tampere University community. We regularly arrange Open Days for Public, when anyone interested in digital manufacturing is welcome to work in our Lab! It is also possible for schools and educational institutions to visit FabLab. Everything starts with an idea. What you would like to do at FabLab? In order to use the devices, you need a digital file in the correct format. You can design the file either yourself or use ready-made templates available on the Internet. We provide you a wide selection of machines. You can find from the Lab eg. 3D printers and 3D scanners, laser cutters, embroidery and leather sewing machine, a vinyl cutter and heat press, CNC routers, and a wide range of hand and power tools. Use of the machines and space is free for individuals, you only pay for the materials.
