Welcome to AMBIT Degree Show 2024!

This year’s annual degree show Ambit brings forth upcoming artists with new visions that question the traditional boundaries of fine art. Tradition and modern issues meet in the exhibition, which challenges the viewer to study other visual art forms in the context of fine art, and ponders upon its role in the modern world. With artworks ranging from interactive media installations to traditional oil paintings, moving image, and narrative works, the show encompasses a variety of art that values each artist’s unique creative process.

Ambit features the works of 14 emerging artists from the graduating class of Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) Fine Art study path. The artists participating in this year’s degree show (14.3. – 7.4.2024) are Daria Crăciun, Robert Eftychiou, Victoria Fofanova, Veera Hanhiniemi, Halla Hannelin, Veera Jokitalo, Gustavo Juber, Saara Kankare, Mikko Louhimaa, Iiris Manner, Pihla Paju, Jan Pitkäsalo, Eevi Siniketo and Silja Tusa.

For the vernissage we will have live music performances from TAMK Music Production alumni Brandon Emene (8th Myth), and our Music Production colleague Modou Sarr (Invictus).

Our TAMK Fine Art alumni, Yu-Hsuan Yao's solo exhibition in Helsinki at MUU Helsinki Contemporary Art Centre features two multichannel video installations that delve into the intricate relationship between modern medicine and personal growth, traditional Chinese culture, and 21st-century feminism.

Taiteilijoiden kuvaus:

Knots-ryhmä: Gustavo Juber, Daria Craciun, Victoria Fofanova ja Niko Toivonen.

Knots-ryhmä on neljän TAMK fine art opiskelijan muodostama tiimi, jonka jäsenet ovat kolmansilla tai neljänsillä opintovuosillaan. Heidän projektinsayhdistää osaamistaan kamera-, video-, installaatio-, sekä traditionaalisen taiteenaloilla, luoden yhteisötaiteellisen teoksen ylisukupolvisista yhteyksistä.

Installaation kuvaus:

Yhteisötaideteos rakentuu kierrätetyistä vaatteista ja metallikehikosta, jotka muodostavat suojan. Vaatteet ovat solmittu yhteen Sointu Senioripalveluiden asukkaiden toimesta, edustaen heidän vaivaansa yhteiskunnan rakentamisessa ja tulevien sukupolvien suojelemisessa. Kierrätetyt vaatteet symboloivat myös eläkeläisten nykyistä kohtelua, nurkkaan heittämistä, kun hyödyllisyys loppuu.

The Knots-group is a team of four TAMK fine art students in their third and fourth years. Their project combines their skills in camera, video, installation, and traditional arts to form a community-based art piece on intergenerational connections.

Installation description:

The community-based artwork is made of recycled clothes and a metal frame,which form a shelter. The clothes have been tied together in knots by the residents of Sointu Senioripalvelut centers, representing the effort they put forth to build our society and protect future generations. The recycled clothes also symbolize the treatment of our elders, being cast away once no longer useful.

Haetaan näyttelyassistenttia Metsäasemalle!

Ilmastopyörre-taideohjelma hakee töihin näyttelyassistenttia touko-kesäkuulle 2023 ennen juhannusta avautuvan ulkoilmanäyttelyn tuotantotehtäviin. Työ tapahtuu Helsingin yliopiston Hyytiälän metsäasemalla Juupajoella ja etänä. On hyvä, jos asut Pirkanmaan alueella.

Tehtäviin kuuluu mm. auttaa näyttelyn taideteosten viimeistelyssä taiteilijoiden apuna, avajaisten järjestelytyötä ja viestintää. Työskentelet näyttelyn kuraattorin ja tuottajan Ulla Taipaleen ja taiteilijoiden kanssa, sekä itsenäisesti.
Työ voi jatkua heinä-elokuussa 2023, jolloin työnkuva on hieman erilainen ja keskittyy viestintämateriaalin toteuttamiseen.

Hakijan pitää puhua ja kirjottaa suomea ja englantia. Näyttelyn teoksia toteutetaan metsään ja suolla, joten sinun pitää omistaa kumisaappaat ja sadetakki ja osata käyttää työkaluja. Tarvitset ajokortin - metsäasemalle on hankala päästä ilman ajoneuvoa, joten jos sinulla on oma auto käytössä, se helpottaa työntekoa.

Here are some photos from our Degree Show Final Feedback at Galleria Himmelblau.

Each one of us had a 20 minute timeline to talk about our artworks followed by feedback from our supervisors and other art students.

It was an exchange of creative report between lecturers and exhibiting artists.
