We are proud to celebrate our colleague Karolina karolingva on the successful defense of her PhD thesis on Friday, 10 April 2026.

Her thesis, “Freedom of Expression and Privacy in European Public Libraries: A Study of Perceptions and Practices,” makes an important contribution to our field.

A wonderful achievement for both Karolina and our department Information Studies at ÅAU at Åbo Akademi - congratulations!

New research from ! 📚

On Friday 10 April our doctoral researcher Karolina Andersdotter defends her doctoral dissertation "Freedom of Expression and Privacy in European Public Libraries : A Study of Perceptions and Practices". 🕵🏻‍♀️✨

In December, Kirjastonhoitajien säätiö (Foundation for Librarians) awarded two of our graduates an award for their master's theses related to public libraries. Today, the chair of the board Timo Tamminen paid us a visit and presented Jessica Blackburn and André Kolehmainen with their diplomas. Congratulations! 🌹

The subjects Information studies and Information systems at Åbo Akademi University are looking for a University lecturer or teacher for the period August 1st 2026 to July 31st 2027. Memories from 6 years ago on same day on 24.02.2020 with all our colleagues, head of department, PhD students and other researchers at . We miss those moments and hoping for such moments in future too. We spent the time at faniculur Turku, went for brewing factory visit and had dinner together
