The Coronavirus situation brought many challenges to the workforce and business life of Finland as well as the rest of Europe and the world. Talent Coastline planned a series of online events called Talent Café. The Talent Café is meant for all the internationals living in the Ostrobothnia regions, who are searching for a job, or have recently been laid off, or who are employed but will start searching for a new position in the close future. The first event will take place on Microsoft Teams on Thursday 4th of June, 16.00-17.00.

Simply register yourself here to get the link to the event via e-mail. The first topic of the series will be “Job search during and after corona”, where internationals will get advice, links and services regarding their job search, how to plan it and make it as efficient as possible, in cooperation with TE-services. During the event, there will also be time devoted to conversation, discussion and networking, facilitated by Narashima Boopathi, Entrepreneur at Cultural Analysis International. Good Morning Peace students,

I hope you are all well and enjoyed the beautiful snowy weather this weekend.

I am emailing you to see if you would be interested to help me out with a current project that is running at ÅA.

We are currently producing short marketing videos for our international master’s programme and I am working on the Peace programme video.

I would need current peace students to film a very short video of themselves talking about the peace programme, and send it over to me by Thursday 14th 16:00.

Following questions to answer in the videos would be:

- Who you are?
- Where do you come from?
- Why did you choose Åbo Akademi University?
- Why did you choose the Peace Programme?
- What makes studying an international master’s programme at Åbo Akademi unique?

If you are happy to film yourself and send me the video by Thursday, that is fine.

If not, I have saved time in my calendar this week for me to film you:

If you would like help with filming your video, please come by my office:
- Wednesday 13th November – 12:00 – 14:00
- Thursday 14th November – 13:00 15:00

Please also let me know if you have any questions.

With kind regards,
Katie

In the course Gender, Media and Society the students of Peace, Mediation and Conflict Research have discussed how media play part in social construction of gender - and at times reinforce already existing gender stereotypes in different societies and promote gender inequality.

Under the supervision of the course teacher, MSSc, doctoral student Farida Anwar, the students prepared their individual posters and creative group presentation to challenge stereotypes in different areas of life. The course was also open to exchange students on campus and exchange students from Germany, USA, Spain and France participated.
