Wonderful international encounters in April 🌸🤗

We had the pleasure of trying out mindfulness VR with the guidance of Psychologist Marie Leclere from the University of Technology in Pristina, Kosovo.

We also had an important visit from lecturers Marjan Visser and Michiel Galama from the University of Stenden, Netherlands.

Both Visser and Galama have co-operated with us for multiple years and have visited us in Finland four times. They say that to them Finland feels homelike.

We are happy to annouce that our co-operation has began to involve more local Finnish organisations. Which is beneficial for the locals and also the society on a larger scale.

Visser summarizes that: "Design thinking is all about human-centered design."

🌍 Cultural Fest at HAMK Valkeakoski

This Tuesday, our 1st-year students brought the campus to life with an incredible Cultural Fest! 🎉

From vibrant performances and a stunning fashion show to cultural stalls and delicious treats from around the world, the event was a true celebration of diversity and unity. ✨

A beautiful reminder of the global community we have right here at HAMK. 💙

🤝 Support on Campus at Valkeakoski ✨
 
Today, we had a great pop-up at Valkeakoski campus with Ohjaamo, the City of Valkeakoski, and our own community counsellor, along with a cozy mini brunch with coffee and tea. ☕
 
Students got to connect with:
💬 Susanna (Outreach Youth Worker) – She is part of a team in Valkeakoski supporting young adults aged 17–29 with anything from work, studies, health, relationships, or everyday questions. They also organize different kinds of fun events for young adults.
🌍 Jaakko (International Services) – He is a representative of Ohjaamo and offers guidance and counselling for internationals, helping them find the right services. Appointments are available every Thursday from 12:00–16:00.
🏫 Elli (HAMK Community Counsellor) – available on campus every Thursday to support students with study-related concerns, wellbeing, or adjusting to life in Finland. Students can book a time or drop in to talk.
 
These services are here for you, whether you need advice, support, or just someone to talk to. 💙
