Welcome to meet old friends and new faces on Monday 15 May 2023 from 17 to 18.30 in a relaxed networking event on Metropolia Myyrmäki Campus. (We'll serve some snacks too).

As promised, we're going to hold more alumni events/activities - some online and some F2F.

So we're pleased to give you preliminary info about an upcoming webinar in English on sustainability. (Title and focus to be decided - stay tuned!) You will be able to join us from wherever in the world you are!

Marko is now senior lecturer in sustainable business in the business school.

How to use LinkedIn like a pro

Come and share your experiences with our students!

We all know that networking is a crucial skill to have in today’s professional world.
How can we practice networking without seeing anyone in person? Luckily, we can grow our network through digital tools. In this online session, we'll look at the basics of LinkedIn and how to use it for networking*. It can be hard to differentiate ourselves from other candidates.
Topics covered:
Very brief overview of optimizing your LinkedIn profile
Creating your networking strategy
How to reach out to a “stranger”
Content creation as a means for social proof
Content creation challenge

Main speaker: Our very own EBA Sophie Michaud

Sophie moved to Finland from Eastern Canada four years ago. She studied business psychology at Metropolia AMK and HfT Stuttgart. Now she works as a content marketing manager at Supermetrics. It took months of applying and trying the traditional job searching route to realize it wasn’t working and trying the networking route instead. Now, she stays involved in the immigrant and student communities to help others achieve their professional goals.

Career survey for 2016 graduates
Calling all those who graduated in 2016! You may have received an email about the nationwide career survey of UAS sent to 27,000 grads. This survey aims to find out where graduates have found work and how their degree has met the needs of working life. Please do complete the survey if you have the link.

The Ministry of Education and Culture utilizes the nationwide survey results in evaluating the quality and development needs of education in higher education institutions.

Ethical principles
Executing the career monitoring survey of universities of applied sciences is guided by the ethical principles approved by the Rectors’ Conference of Finnish Universities of Applied Sciences Arene.

Processing the data
The data is collected, stored and used responsibly, respecting the rights of the respondents and protecting the privacy of individuals. At every stage of the data collection, the appropriate laws, decrees and instructions are complied with. The survey results are reported systematically, responsibly and by adhering to the General Data Protection Regulation and good scientific conduct.

Hope you're all well and have handled this past challenging year to the best of your abilities. Here's to brighter times ahead.
I was checking up on our LinkedIn group for alumni. Many of you received invitations to join the group from me when you graduated but have not accepted. Please do. I do believe LinkedIn is a valuable networking tool in the current situation. A great place to post opportunities or stay in touch for instance. (This post prompted by Sachin Kumar who spoke in class this week and extolled the virtues of LinkedIn for networking to students!)
