- Authorized by French Ministry of Education - French Qualiopi-certified for Professional Training &
Validation of Acquired Experience

The City University (CityU) is a private and independent distance learning institution. It is authorized under the jurisdiction of the French Ministry of National Education as a "hors contrat" (non-contracted) private distance learning establishment

Therefore our awards are not equivalent to awards of French public educational institutions and it is not recognized by the State. All our awards are institutional. More about Private School Authorization in France. Authorization:
Under the French private education system, private schools are either “sous contrat” – with the government paying teachers’ salaries and the school following the national curriculum – or “hors contrat” - not funded by the government, and therefore not obligated to follow any particular curriculum. The CityU is a "hors contrat" school, therefore our institutional diplomas are not equivalent to diplomas issued/recognized by the French State. Due to the nature of its authorization, operations and legal allowance in France, CityU seeks program-related recognition and accreditation from other government-recognized organizations in the EU and globally. Restrictions
Private institutions cannot use the terms "baccalauréat," "licence," "master," and "doctorat" for their institutional degrees. Violations result in severe penalties, including closure of the institution. CityU uses the term "Master" in certain diploma titles strictly as authorized and these are institutional diplomas and are not classified as national diplomas. Transparency
Private institutions must clearly differentiate their degrees from national degrees to avoid misrepresentation and while maintaining its value. The CityU diplomas are not national diplomas in France.
