Looking to build confidence in beef herd health planning?

For new and recently graduated vets, discussing nutrition, health planning and herd performance with farmers can feel daunting. Our Health Planning for the Beef Herd CPD course is designed to provide the practical knowledge and confidence needed to support beef clients more effectively.

During this one-day course, participants will explore:

✅ The links between nutrition, health and performance
✅ Farm-specific health planning approaches
✅ Key performance indicators and their role in herd management
✅ Nutritional requirements of beef cattle
✅ Practical interpretation of forage analyses and feed labels

Through expert-led teaching and practical examples, you'll gain skills that can be applied immediately in practice, helping you deliver evidence-based advice that supports herd health, productivity and profitability.

“SRUC gave me the confidence, experience and opportunities to turn my passion for horses into a career.”

Eilidh Simmons graduated with a BSc (Hons) Equine Science and Management from our Oatridge campus, after turning her lifelong love of horses into a career.
During her studies, she developed her practical skills and confidence, while gaining valuable industry experience through work placements, including a third-year placement in the Netherlands.

Eilidh said: “The placements in first and third year were some of the best experiences of the course. My third-year placement in the Netherlands gave me the chance to experience a completely different side of the industry while also building my confidence travelling and working independently.”
