Congratulations to the three winning teams, all from the University of Aberdeen, at this year's Inform Prize event last month.

The ‘Grow Prize - Best Idea’ was won by StorageBuddy, the ‘Enhance Prize - Best Implementation’ was won by Team Lima: Project ARO Corpus and the ‘Inform Prize - Best Presentation’ was won by Team Delta: Project Claro.

Launched in 2014 and funded by Aberdeen-based software company Intelligent Plant, the Inform Prize tasks Computing Science students with creating a digital solution to a real-world problem and gives them the opportunity to present their creative projects in front of industry professionals.

Congratulations to 2023 MBA alumna, Priyanka Rao, who was named Winner of Creative Young Entrepreneur (CYE) Scotland 2026 as well as the Scotland Education and Training StartUp of the Year 2026 at the UK StartUp Awards.

Priyanka created MicroInterns to connect students with real-world projects, helping them gain practical experience while giving startups access to emerging talent. Already working with 150+ students and 18 startups, MicroInterns is helping turn student experience into real opportunities.

University of Aberdeen graduate, Kevin McBeath, living with Motor Neuron Disease (MND) is being supported by a group of ...

University of Aberdeen graduate, Kevin McBeath, living with Motor Neuron Disease (MND) is being supported by a group of lifelong friends who will cycle more than 260 miles on tandem bicycles to raise funds for him and his family.

Kevin, who graduated with a Sociology degree in 2010, is the inspiration behind the four-day Tour de Fitba challenge, which will see 10 riders visit every Scottish Premiership stadium before finishing at Pittodrie.

Among those taking part is fellow Aberdeen graduate Ross Campbell (Mechanical Engineering, 2009), who is joining friends and family members in the unique fundraiser.

Although Kevin won't be cycling, he'll be travelling with the group in a support vehicle as they complete the challenge starting on Wednesday (Oct 7).

October is and today we're recognising gifts in wills received in recent years which are contributing to the University of Aberdeen's life-changing research and advances in both ophthalmology and neuro-immunology, including one from Alistair Lynn CVO CBE QPM.

Alistair's distinguished 42-year career as a police officer saw him rise through the ranks to become Chief Constable of Grampian Police in 1983. He received The Queen’s Police Medal, a CBE and Commander of the Royal Victorian Order in recognition of his personal service to The Late Queen. Alistair lost his sight through macular degeneration and was under the care of Professor John Forrester. On his death in 2021 at the age of 95, he left a generous gift in his will for ophthalmology research which added to a substantial lifetime gift he made in 2020.
