Photographer and alumnus Kieran Dodds' latest work, featured in a recent BBC article, explores the lives of people with red hair across the United States and reveals an unexpected connection to their Scottish roots. Through a series of striking portraits, the project examines themes of identity, ancestry and belonging, uncovering personal stories that highlight the cultural ties between Scotland and communities throughout the US.

For Kieran Dodds, photographing people with red hair has become something of an obsession over the past decade or more.

We are glad to share that Professor Clare McNaught has been appointed as an Honorary Chair at the University of Aberdeen.

Clare is a University of Aberdeen graduate and consultant general surgeon who made history in 2025 by becoming the first female President of the The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Her recent appointment as Honorary Chair recognises her contributions to the surgical profession, as well as her dedication to education and training.

Last week, we were delighted to welcome the Medical Class of 1991 back to campus for a weekend of reunion celebrations. During their visit, they enjoyed a tour of the Anatomy Department, where fourth-year medical students demonstrated some of the latest teaching technologies, including the Anatomage dissection table and virtual reality headsets. The day concluded with a guided tour of the beautiful Cruickshank Botanic Garden.
