We would like to welcome our newest team-mate to our Animal Care Family.

After joining us five years ago as an Access to Animal Care student, progressing through Intro, NC and HNC, working with us as a volunteer and providing weekend and holiday cover, Eilidh Smith has just completed her HND Animal Care and we are delighted to announce that she’s now taken up a permanent position with us as Animal Care Technician. She’s a huge asset to our team.

Jessica is an HND Animal Care student who volunteers with The Brae Riding for the Disabled when she's not at College. Not only does volunteering allow Jessica to make a positive impact, but it also helps her gain practical skills to supplement the knowledge gained from her course. 🐴💪

Last week our HND Animal care students enjoyed a visit from two of Police Scotlands dog trainers & handlers. PD Kim & PD Zara showed us the awesome work they do to keep our communities safe! Excellent demos of tracking, article search, bite work and of course lots of tips and tricks were shared about exactly how they train these dogs to such a high standard. A great morning had by all 🤩

🌊🐋 I'll be presenting a webinar hosted by the Edinburgh Veterinary Zoological Society (EVZS) at The University of Edinburgh on April 30th! Looking forward to engaging in an insightful discussion on marine fauna rescue and conservation with the students. 🐬

I'll be exploring the critical work of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue in the UK, exploring the causes of stranding, and sharing insights on response and rescue efforts. I'll also provide a global perspective on marine fauna rescue, touching on the principles of One Health and marine conservation medicine. I will further discuss career development in marine mammal science and discover the resources offered by Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST).

A week ago today this little one hatched, he’s doing amazing, and can’t wait to see you all in a week. He’s had a busy week eating growing and sleeping. Weighing in today at 163g, gaining weight roughly 18g per day gain.
