Seasonal Animal Field Assistant

We are looking for an enthusiastic and friendly person to take responsibility for our Animal Field when it is open to visitors.

The ideal candidate will have some experience working with animals and be confident interacting with members of the public. You will learn information about our animals and help share this knowledge with visitors to create a positive and engaging experience.

Key responsibilities will include:

-Supervising the Animal Field during opening hours

-Feeding and caring for the animals

-Cleaning animal areas and maintaining high welfare standards

-Welcoming and assisting visitors

-Sharing information about the animals with the public

On quieter days, when there are fewer bookings in the Animal Field, the successful candidate may also be asked to assist in our fruit fields, helping to direct visitors, weigh produce, and take payments.

This is a seasonal role:

-Primarily weekends during June

-Moving to 5 days per week throughout July and August

We are looking for someone who is:

-Friendly and approachable

-Reliable and hardworking

-Comfortable working outdoors in all weather

-Happy to work as part of a team

-Confident speaking with the public

📣Are you interested in becoming a Brown Street Kennels Volunteer?

We have some spaces available to join our fabulous team of Dog Walkers. 🤗

👀We are looking for enthusiastic, caring and experienced individuals that can dedicate one morning per week to walk our dogs. Dog walking is Monday to Saturday at 09:00am and Sundays at 10:45am. Successful applicants would be given a fixed day each week. Only one dog is walked at a time and we ask that you spend a minimum of one-hour walking.
Our dogs vary in breed, size and temperament, so it is important that volunteers are also confident in handling challenging behaviours on their own.

🤔If you would like to volunteer with us and are over the age of 18 years old, please fill out the application form on our website and return it to us to review.

🐾Applications are open until the 31st May 2026.🐾

Yesterday our HND Animal care students were lucky enough to get a visit from the Search & Rescue Dog Association (Scotland) to teach us all about SARDA dogs and the training involved in these amazing life saving dogs!
Dog handler Kate gave us a really interesting talk before we headed outside for some demos by SARDA Dog Missy!
Fantastic afternoon!!

JOB OPPORTUNITY: We are seeking TWO dedicated individuals to join our Hospital for Small Animals as Animal Care Assistants.

There are two positions available; one is full time, working Monday-Friday, and the second is part time, working every other Saturday and Sunday.

The roles involve assisting in all aspects of hospitalised animal care, including kennel cleaning, infection control, feeding and grooming inpatients, and assisting with procedures involving dogs, cats and exotic species.

The successful candidates must have experience working with animals in a veterinary setting, a full clean driving licence and excellent communication skills.

We offer a comprehensive 6–8 week training programme to help new staff learn the roles and settle in.

Salary: £26,093 - £28,778 (pro rata for the part time role)
