GUERNICA - Pablo Picasso [English below]
Bu myfyrwyr Sbaeneg yn eu blwyddyn gyntaf yn ymchwilio i hanes Rhyfel Cartref Sbaen, gan ganolbwyntio ar gampwaith pwerus Picasso, Guernica. Buont yn archwilio symbolaeth ddofn y gwaith a'r digwyddiadau trasig a'i hysbrydolodd - sef bomio Guernica yng Ngwlad y Basg yn 1937 gan yr Almaen dan y Natsïaid gyda chefnogaeth yr Eidal. Dadorchuddiwyd yn wreiddiol ym Mhafiliwn Sbaen yn Arddangosfa Ryngwladol Paris, mae Guernica yn parhau i fod yn dyst cythryblus i erchyllterau rhyfel. Wedi eu hysbrydoli gan y sesiwn hon, cyfeiriodd y myfyrwyr eu creadigrwydd i ailddychmygu eu fersiynau eu hunain o Guernica, gan ddod â hanes a chelf at ei gilydd mewn mynegiant pwerus o'u safbwyntiau eu hunain. Mae’r gwaith hwn bellach yn cael ei arddangos yn ystafell 429.

First-year Spanish language students delved into the history of the Spanish Civil War, focusing on Picasso’s powerful masterpiece, Guernica. They explored its deep symbolism and the tragic events that inspired it: the 1937 bombing of the Basque town of Guernica by N**i Germany and Italy, supporting. Originally unveiled at the Spanish Pavilion of the Paris International Exposition, Guernica remains a haunting testament to the horrors of war. Inspired by this session, our students channelled their creativity to reimagine their own versions of Guernica, bringing history and art together in a powerful expression of their own perspectives. This work is now on display in room 429.
