Today is World Mental Health Day 💚

Moving to a new country, starting your studies and adjusting to a new home can be exciting, but it can also take time to settle in.

So today, we’re sharing a few simple things you can do to look after yourself as you adjust to life in Belfast:

☕ Go on a solo date and explore somewhere new
🎨 Get creative and make time for something you enjoy
🧹 Declutter your space and make it feel more like home
💬 Connect with others, whether that’s classmates, friends or family back home

Remember, you don’t have to have everything figured out straight away. Give yourself time to settle in and get to know your new home. 💚

Starting a new term also means getting to know your new city and how to stay safe while you’re here! 👮‍♂️🏙️

At the start of term, we welcomed officers from Lisburn Road Police Station to the International Study Centre to chat with our students about crime prevention and staying safe in Belfast.

They shared practical advice, helpful tips and answered questions to help our students feel more confident as they settle into life in the city.

On Thursday, we officially welcomed our new Queen’s University Belfast International Study Centre students at Mandela Hall! 🌍❤️

It was a brilliant afternoon giving our students the chance to meet each other, make new connections and get their first taste of life and culture here in Belfast.

From human bingo and adding a sticker to our world map to show where everyone has travelled from, to sandwiches, treats and plenty of opportunities to mingle, it was the perfect way to bring our new community together.

We were also delighted to hear from our Centre Director, Liam O’Hagan, Professor Margaret Topping, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Global Engagement, and Lady Arwen, a former QUB ISC student, who shared their words of welcome with our new students.

And, of course, no Belfast welcome would be complete without some traditional Irish culture! ☘️ We finished with fantastic live music and traditional dancing from an Irish entertainment group.

A great start to the year and the perfect way for our students to get to know one another and begin making Belfast feel like home. ❤️
