Heritage Skills Academy The ‘Heritage Skills Academy’ delivers Apprenticeships in Classic Vehicle Restoration. Find out more on our website!

The ‘Heritage Skills Academy’ has been created to deliver Apprenticeships in Classic Vehicle Restoration. Our mission is to ensure that the traditional skills required to maintain and restore our Engineering heritage thrive and that the UK maintains its position as the centre for engineering excellence. The Academy brings together experts from across the Automotive Industry who are committed to te

aching the skills required to preserve and restore our Pre-war, Post-war and Modern automotive heritage. If you are interested in a career with excellent prospects and a reputation that could offer progression into engineering and management positions across the world, this is the place to start. We have over 25 years of experience in delivering world class Automotive Apprenticeships. The Academy is based at the ‘Bicester Heritage’ site in Oxfordshire; the UK’s first park for the restoration, storage and enjoyment of vintage and classic cars, motorcycles and aeroplanes. We also have a second site at Brooklands Museum in Surrey where our Apprentices on the Coachbuilding programme are based, along with a couple of Mechanical cohorts, which opened early in 2021.

Huge thank you to Beech Hill Garage Est. 1979 for their very kind donation of this 1974 MG Midget!🤩

Mechanical cohort HSA18 were very pleased when the MG arrived! They have already got stuck in and managed to get it running 🛠️

This will be a great resource at the academy and we look forward to welcoming their new apprentice joining our next mechanical cohort in July 🙌

Revisiting Timber skills this week for Coachbuilding Cohort 8 as they produced wheel arch bucks for vehicles in the Brooklands Museum collection! 🛠️

The apprentices improved their skills with hand and power tools to create the “egg-box” style bucks with a solid dressing block section and even some ornately designed feet! Thank you to Guest Tutor Mark for his help and guidance this week 🪵

Finishing off the week with independent aluminium fabrication and welding tasks - designing storage racks for our new wheeling machine lower anvils and lightweight tool trays - well done all! 👏🏼

Happy National Automotive Service Professionals day! 🛠️

We are taking this opportunity to celebrate all of our apprentices who are the next generation of the classic and heritage industry - huge well done to all our past and current apprentices 🎉

Each and every apprentice works incredibly hard and we wish them every success as they enter the industry as professionals 🙌

On each photo there is a recent quote from current apprentices of what it’s like to be an apprentice with HSA. We feel very proud to support our apprentices and their professional development 😊

At HSA we all work hard to ensure the next generation of professionals. We have had 372 apprentices who chose one of our apprenticeships! We look forward to meeting many more passionate individuals looking to take the next steps of their career journey 🤩

If you are interested in an apprenticeship with us please apply on our website (link in bio!)

A very productive week for our 7th Coachbuilding Cohort as they covered Trim for their 2nd time with Guest Tutor Claire! 🧵🪡

This week the apprentices created new seat covers for these Fiat 500 seats - starting with stripping down the originals, restoring the frames then making and fitting pleated and piped covers from scratch 👏🏼

Additional project work included progressing the framework and mountings for the bench seat using our tube bender and lathe ⚒️

Well done all! 🤩

We were kindly invited by to a STEM event they hosted at Duxford Air Museum on Saturday and our great ambassadors Mark and Duncan supported the event with solid riveting and bookmark/dog tag stamping activities for the young attendees ⚒️

We love sharing what we do and the classic industries we can feed with the skills we teach across our apprenticeships and training courses 🤩

Last week mechanical cohort HSA19 were in Bicester doing transmission systems ⚙️

The apprentices worked on a variety of gearboxes and diffs to carry out inspections, fault finding and repairs. 🧰

Make sure you swipe to the end to see the great work some of the apprentices from this group who rebuilt a final drive for a 1920s Ford Model A! 🤩

It was a challenging week, everyone worked really hard - well done all! 👏🏼

Mechanical cohort HSA 18 (plus Ben on a catch up Block) visited for their Fuel Injection Block with tutor, Paul this week!⛽️

In depth theory followed by full system testing ensured they all went away with new skills. 📊

Our Capri also came in for some MOT advisories and our Saabs were returned to the ‘woodland glade’ until the next block.🔧

Well done all and the Brooklands team wish you all good luck in your upcoming End-Point Assessments 👏🏼
