📐 Maths Progress Recap! 📈

This session started by revisiting trigonometry, consolidating our understanding of SOHCAHTOA and identifying the correct ratio to use when solving right-angled triangle problems. We worked through a range of non-calculator questions, focusing on selecting the appropriate trigonometric function and showing clear working throughout.

Once confidence had grown, we moved on to simple and compound interest, exploring the key differences between the two. We practised non-calculator methods, learning how to calculate interest step-by-step and understanding why compound interest grows more quickly over time.

To finish the session, we reinforced multiplication fluency with a timed times tables challenge, recognising that strong number skills underpin success in GCSE maths.

Great effort throughout the lesson, with increasing confidence, accurate calculations and clear mathematical reasoning. Every session builds another layer of understanding. 💪📚

📚 Another fantastic tutoring session! 🌟

There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing confidence grow through consistent effort and practice.

Today we worked on:
✅ Times tables fluency
✅ Long multiplication using the column method
✅ Equivalent fractions
✅ Finding fractions of amounts
✅ Multiplying and dividing fractions
✅ Multi-step word problems

What I’m most proud of isn’t just the number of ticks on the page—it’s seeing strategies becoming second nature. From using the correct methods to explaining the reasoning behind answers, every session builds understanding, not just correct answers.

Learning is about making mistakes, learning from them and celebrating progress along the way. Seeing work marked with so many ✔️s is a reflection of hard work, resilience and determination.

Well done, Kloe! Keep believing in yourself—you should be incredibly proud of how far you’ve come. 👏

At Tutoring with Aimee, every session is tailored to help students build confidence, master key skills and enjoy learning at their own pace.

📈 From understanding the basics to tackling exam-style questions…

Today’s maths tutoring session focused on one of the topics that many students find challenging at first – compound interest.

We began by comparing simple interest and compound interest, using clear examples on the whiteboard to build confidence before applying the knowledge to increasingly demanding exam questions.

It’s always rewarding to see that moment when the process starts to click. By breaking each problem down into manageable steps, students not only improve their mathematical understanding but also gain confidence in approaching GCSE questions independently.

Learning isn’t about getting every question right first time – it’s about understanding the method, learning from mistakes, and building resilience along the way.

Small steps every session lead to big progress over time. 📚➕💡

Today’s tutoring session was all about making learning engaging, interactive and fun. 📚✏️

We worked on:
🔤 Phonics and letter formation
📖 Reading The Gruffalo to develop comprehension and vocabulary
🎨 Identifying colours and describing characters
🧲 Building CVC words using magnetic letters
✍️ Practising common exception words and handwriting
🦁 Learning about animals before writing simple facts and creating our own illustrations

It’s fantastic to see confidence growing as skills begin to come together. Watching a child move from recognising sounds and letters to answering comprehension questions, writing sentences and proudly sharing their work is exactly why I love tutoring.

Every lesson is carefully planned to meet the learner where they are, helping them build confidence alongside the key literacy skills they’ll carry forward.

Learning doesn’t have to happen from a worksheet alone—it comes alive through stories, practical activities, discussion and creativity. 🌟

Today we focused on consolidating our understanding of o’clock times before moving on to half past the hour. Using practical clocks, matching activities and real-life daily routines helped to build confidence and make learning meaningful.

Alongside this, we continued developing multiplication recall with the 2, 5 and 10 times tables, completed problem-solving activities, practised phonics and reading comprehension, and reinforced letter recognition through hands-on activities.

I always believe that children learn best when they’re actively involved. By using a range of practical resources and adapting activities to suit the learner, we can build confidence while making learning enjoyable.

It’s wonderful to see the progress being made week after week. Every session is another step forward, and it’s great to watch confidence grow alongside academic skills. 🌟

Today’s tutoring session was all about going back to the basics and reinforcing the key maths skills that will make a real difference moving forward.

We’ve been recapping number comparisons, practising column addition and subtraction, and spending plenty of time on times tables. It’s fantastic to see the progress already being made, particularly with the 2 and 10 times tables, which are becoming much more secure with every session. 👏

Sometimes the biggest improvements come from slowing down, revisiting the fundamentals and giving children the time and support they need to truly understand, rather than rushing ahead.

I’m really proud of the effort and determination shown today. Every session is another step towards greater confidence and independence in maths. 📚➕✨

Another new student has started their journey with Tutoring with Aimee today. 📚✏️

We began with an initial assessment in English and Maths to identify current strengths, highlight any gaps in learning, and create a personalised plan ready for the transition into Year 6.

Taking the time to understand where a child is academically allows every session to be tailored to their individual needs, helping to build confidence alongside progress. Year 6 is an important year, and starting preparation early can make a real difference.

I’m looking forward to supporting this student over the coming months and watching their confidence and skills grow. 🌟

Today we explored Act 1, Scene 3 of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, developing understanding through a range of activities including:
✍️ Retrieval and comprehension tasks
💬 Identifying key characters and quotations
🧠 Analysing Juliet’s thoughts and feelings
🎭 Creative writing from the perspectives of both Juliet and Paris

It’s always rewarding to see students grow in confidence as they move beyond simply reading the text and begin to interpret characters, infer emotions and write creatively using evidence from the play.

At Tutoring with Aimee, lessons are tailored to each learner, breaking challenging texts into manageable steps while building the skills needed for GCSE English success.

Every lesson is another step towards greater confidence, stronger analytical skills and exam readiness. 📖✨

Every child learns differently, and that’s exactly why I love tutoring. 📚✨

Today’s session was all about making learning practical, engaging and confidence-building.

We worked on:
➕ Times tables fluency
🕒 Telling the time using practical resources
📖 Vocabulary, verbs and sentence writing
🔤 Phonics, spelling and letter formation
✍️ Independent writing and applying new learning

Using hands-on resources alongside written activities helps children develop understanding rather than simply memorising answers. Watching confidence grow as concepts begin to “click” is one of the most rewarding parts of teaching.

Learning should be interactive, enjoyable and tailored to the child in front of you. Every small success builds towards something much bigger.

If your child could benefit from personalised support in English or Maths, I’d love to help.

📚 Building confident readers, one step at a time. ✨

Today was all about developing the foundations of reading and writing through engaging, structured activities tailored to a learner’s needs.

We worked on:
🔤 Alternative spellings and phonics using magnetic letters.
📖 Reading a decodable story and answering comprehension questions.
✍️ Sentence construction, vocabulary and handwriting practice.
🧠 Blending sounds, segmenting words and applying phonics knowledge in writing.

Every small success matters. Seeing a child grow in confidence, tackle unfamiliar words independently and begin applying their phonics to reading and writing is what makes these sessions so rewarding.

Reading isn’t just about recognising words—it’s about building confidence, resilience and opening the door to every other area of learning.

It’s a privilege to be part of that journey. 🌟
