We are extending our application deadline to the weekend (April 23rd) to give you a couple more days to think about putting your applications in! If you were thinking about applying but haven't, now is your chance! Remember its a great bonus to have on your CV when applying for jobs and placements and is a great way to get involved in the University!

Hi everyone,

We are looking for people to take over running Biosoc next year! If you are interested or would like to find out more about the roles please contact any of the current committee members, the positions we hold are the positions available for next year!
Seb Charles – President
Eleanor Sadler – Vice president
Tamilini Selvaratnam, Dharani Kohilathas- Social secs
Charlotte Brady - Treasurer
Nazia Choudhury- Final year advisor.

If you wish to apply, please email me ([email protected]) or Eleanor ([email protected]) with with your name, current year of study, email address and a few lines as to what you can bring to Biosoc and the reasons why you are applying. Application deadline is April 20th so get your applications in as soon as possible! We will update you with our decision after the deadline.

Here is a brief description of each of the roles:

President: In this role you will basically control the society. It is your job to organise and direct the committee but also be diplomatic by listening to what they and the members have to say.

Vice President: Help the President make decisions and take control if the president is busy. You also help direct the committee and listen to the opinions of the committee and members.

Social Sec X2: In charge of organising social events and updating social media.

Treasurer: You control the money. You need to control the budget, make sure all outgoings are paid and ensure the society can afford discounts, hold special events etc.

Secretary: Ensure all members are up to date with what is going on. You’re first point of contact for all members.

Hi everyone,

I know many of you are busy with your placement searches at the moment which involves deciding on what career path you want to pursue. If you are thinking of utilising you biology skills within a commercial area or are unsure about what you want to do and want to explore the career options available to biologists, then this is definitely something for you. An initiative has been started to try and give additional support to biologists at Aston looking for a life outside of research. This support can range form talks from the business school about what commercial roles are available and exactly what you can expect from them, to additional units that will provide students with a foundation of business skills. So whether you are a first year or a final year and this is something of interest to you or you fancy some extra skills and knowledge (Business skills will come in useful no matter what profession you are in), then please register your interest by clicking the link below and signing up.
