Saturday 10 October marked World Mental Health Day 2026, reminding us of the importance of looking after our mental health and supporting one another.

🌍 Discovering the Folk High School Spirit at Fircroft College

We’re pleased to share that Fircroft colleagues Angela Bate, Zoe Mabbs and Holly Henderson will be taking part in the Global Network for Folk High School Research Online Seminar this October.

Angela will present “Finding Folk at Fircroft”, exploring international collaborations and their influence on Fircroft’s pedagogical practices, learning and curriculum.

Zoe and Holly will present “At Fircroft We Sing”, an inquiry into communal singing at Fircroft and the cultural and social messages conveyed through the practice.

The session will showcase their recently published work exploring folk high school traditions at Fircroft, international collaboration and the role of community singing in bringing people together through learning.

Their recently published work features in Perspectives on the Global Folk High School Movement and People’s Future Lab, which is now available to access for free.
