We're thrilled to mark the anniversary of our Early Childhood Community of Practice!

It's extra special this year, as we've just published a new book, 'Integrated Working in Early Childhood', which includes contributions from staff, students, and alumni.

As part of the celebrations, we shared a folder of SEN Resources pulled together using the knowledge and experience of our community.

Here's to many more years 💙

Last weekend, we welcomed some of our Chaplaincy cohort to campus for the final time 💙

For these students studying for a Postgraduate Certificate in Chaplaincy, it's the end of an era.

Our Chaplaincy courses are a little different. They're designed for those who are already active in their faith community to deepen their self-awareness, ethical approach, and pastoral care. As a university with a religious foundation, teaching and training the next generation of spiritual leaders is important to our mission. We're proud to welcome students from all kinds of faith backgrounds to develop their practice.

Well done to each and every one of you!

The awards have been announced tonight - so we'll share more about this fantastic achievement soon.

Right now, we want to say a big thank you to all of our students 💙

The WhatUni Student Choice Awards are the largest awards in the UK decided exclusively by students - so this news means the absolute world to us. We're so deeply grateful for each and every one of you who took the time to share your feedback about your experiences at Birmingham Newman!

Each year, we ask staff, students, and alumni to send us their poetry for our annual competition.

For 2026, we had so many fantastic entries… And it was a hard decision.

We had three amazing runners-up:
💙 James Adie's 'Daddy Tree
💙 Anna Aceso's ‘Muted Karaoke’
💙 and Chris Porter's ‘Lent'.

but Terryleigh Mann’s 'Between Tides' stood out.

Thank you to everyone who took part!

We were delighted to welcome Preet Kaur Gill MP to campus last week 💙

Mrs Gill met with staff and students from the University’s Schools of Nursing and Allied Health, and Business and Law.

We also gave her an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of our newly developed facilities for innovative health and digital learning - £3 million development of new, custom-built spaces.

That includes a cutting-edge virtual reality hospital ward, designed as an extension to our current immersive learning spaces for students on the University’s health-related courses.

Plus, the tour also took in the new Digital Learning Hub - an active learning space for staff and students with high-spec technology embedded to create a holistic digital experience - and an advanced computer science lab, home to our teaching of bioinformatics and digital health innovation.

These new spaces will be fully operational for staff and student use in late summer 2026... we can't wait!

Congratulations to students Harri Walsh (Adult Nursing) and Charlie Aspinall (Paramedic Science) who completed the Great Birmingham Run!

They're raising money for Diabetes UK, after Harri's diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes.

We're so proud - especially considering Harri ran a personal best of 1:34 and Charlie ran 1:21 on his debut half marathon 💙

Happy International Nurses’ Day to all the incredible nurses making a difference every day 💙

We couldn't be prouder of each and every one of our student nurses - and the colleagues who are preparing them to be the best nurses they can be.

It's official: our first cohort of Turing students are heading out this summer!

A group of Birmingham Newman students are heading to partner universities around the world, including Aichi University of Education in Japan and VIA University College in Denmark.

The Turing scheme is a UK government scheme which supports students to study overseas.

We can't wait to hear about their adventures 💙
