A University of Birmingham drama society. We do improv, new writing and original plays. Watch what?

We are University of Birmingham's society for original theatre! This includes student written full length plays, the Next Stage short play festival, 48 hour plays, Improv workshops and shows, Writer's forums and all of the happiness and hilarity. Frankenstein’s monster, Nosferatu, and Dracula walk into a bar… or three…. No punchline, that’s exactly it folks. It’s time for the SPOOKIEST bar crawl of the year! We’re keeping it classic for this year, think the Halloween of your childhood — trick or treating, witches, skeletons, pumpkins, ghosts, werewolves, vampires, mummies, spiders… anyone else? All and any monsters are welcome, let’s give em pumpkin to talk about!

Our evening starts off with the Halloween Improvabunga, coming to you from our very own improv troupe, deep in the underbelly of the Guild (BASEMENT 8-9pm). Our horde of guys and ghouls will then head up to the 2nd circle of Hell (JOE’S BAR, 9-9:30pm), followed by a stop at everyone’s favourite haunt THE SOAK (9:45-10:45pm). Next we’ll be taking the ghost train (11pm) from Selly Station to New Street, where we’ll be invited in to DRAGON’S INN (11:20-12pm) to drink mortals’ blood (everyone loves a Bloody Mary right?). To end our freaky fiesta, we’ll head to MISSING (from 12pm)— at this point, it’ll be hard not to be sheet-faced…

The second 4-6 Improv workshop?! Everyone loves a sequel: come to the Guild's Harvey Milk room this Wednesday 7th for more improv: the improvening.

Tomorrow, the first 4-6 Improv workshop of the year takes place in the Harvey Milk room! Come along at four, and stay until, er, six.

We genuinely asked the troupe leaders when in the day it was when we were making this post. They lead the workshop: come along to take part or just to watch!

Watch This' first original play of the year is THE HOUSE ON BURNT GROVE, written by Sam Jackson.

Auditions will take place on the 1st and 2nd of October, in the McKellan and Rosa Parks rooms respectively from 5-9pm. You can see script extracts and an audition form on our linktree. Please message this account if you have any questions 🚪

Did you know that the longest karaoke session ever lasted 19 days? It's true, but we have slightly less time than that this Tuesday, so best get to the Guild dance studio quickly.

This is a great chance to meet members of other Guild Drama societies (and also sing things at them) before the year starts proper 🌟 don't miss out!

Two days to rehearse and perform an entire play? Well, yes! Watch This is seeking a proposal for the year's first 48 HOUR, a pop culture parody like no other (previous examples include HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON, RIVERDALE and NINETEEN EIGHTY-FOUR). Get creative! You can see a model proposal and guidance in our Linktree or message us if you'd like any advice or help!

Proposals are due by the 2nd of October. The performance is on the 18th, after two days of rehearsals (but don't worry, the actors have ten days to learn their lines).
