Ethan, one of our GCSE English students created an outstanding piece of writing which has now been published in the Stranger Saga! There was an astonishing 27,000 entries and Ethan was 1 of 5 winners nationally 👏

Malawi group spent time in local villages and the exprerience gave our students a powerful insight into everyday life in Malawi. From visiting homes and outdoor kitchens to learning how families prepare meals and care for their spaces, the experience was both eye-opening and incredibly humbling.

Our Entry Level 3 Construction students had the exciting opportunity to visit the Newfield School construction site. This provided a valuable real-world experience, allowing students to see a live building project in action.

During the visit, students carefully explored the construction site, observing the different stages of the build and the importance of working safely in such an environment.

A key highlight of the visit was learning about the differences involved in constructing a school compared to other types of buildings. Students were particularly interested in the specialised adaptations required, including accessibility features, safety considerations, and the design elements that support a learning environment.

The visit was both engaging and educational, helping students to connect their classroom learning with practical industry experience and broadening their understanding of construction careers👏

At Blackburn College, we are incredibly proud to celebrate being named College Restaurant of the Year at the prestigious The Craft Guild of Chefs Awards!

This recognition is a testament to the passion, dedication, and ambition of our hospitality team, who have worked tirelessly to transform the student experience through Scholars and across our wider provision. By aligning our curriculum and standards with those of the industry, we continue to ensure our students are learning in an environment that reflects real-world excellence.

This achievement would not have been possible without the continued commitment and support of our Principal and Executive Team. Their investment in our vision has enabled us to build an exceptional programme that continues to grow, innovate, and inspire our students every day.

🔧Hands-on learning with the experts!

Our Level 2 and 3 apprentices recently took part in an industry-led Nail Gun Certification session with Paslode, building confidence with specialist tools used on site every day.

From understanding how nail guns work including the internal combustion system, to exploring the right tools for first fix, second fix and specialist jobs, apprentices gained valuable insight during the theory session. They then put their skills into practice, testing different models and comparing size, weight and performance.

As a result, every apprentice who completed the training will receive a City & Guilds recognised certification, helping them stand out and work safely and confidently on site ✅

A huge thank you to Paslode for delivering such an engaging session and supporting our students with exclusive discounts on their tools 👏
