Tonight we raise a glass to Robert Burns, Scotland’s national poet and master of words that still stir the soul centuries later.

Whether you’re reciting a verse of 'Address to a Haggis', enjoying a dram (or two), or simply embracing the spirit of tradition, poetry and a wee bit of ceremony, Burns Night reminds us of the power of storytelling, heritage and human connection.

So here’s to poetry, passion, and doing things with meaning, very much the La Calavera way. Slàinte! 🥂

At La Calavera College, embalming is never just one subject, it’s where disciplines collide.

History. Architecture. Chemistry. 🏛️⚗️📜
Did you know? Ion comes from the Greek meaning “to go” or “to travel” and in chemistry, ionic bonds involve travelling electrons 👀⚡

Just like the ancient Greek Ionians of Asia Minor (modern-day Turkey), our little electrons set off on a journey moving from one atom to another to form ionic bonds.

Opposites attract.
Connections are made.
But the bond isn’t permanent, it can be broken and conquered.

A perfect metaphor for learning itself: movement, connection, challenge, and change. Because at La Calavera College, knowledge doesn’t stand still. It travels.

As Christmas approaches, we pause to reflect on the true meaning of this holy season.

Christmas is a time of hope, light, and promise; a celebration of the birth of Christ, whose coming reminds us of compassion, humility, and love for one another. In a world where life and death so often stand side by side, this season calls us to remember that faith offers comfort beyond loss, and light beyond darkness.

At La Calavera College, our work is deeply rooted in dignity, reverence, and respect for the dead, values that resonate profoundly with the message of Christmas. We are mindful of the sacred responsibility entrusted to those who serve the bereaved, and we honour that calling with care, skill, and humanity.

May this Christmas bring peace to your hearts, comfort to those who mourn, and renewed purpose to all who serve others.
