Successful run up the east coast to and —sun shining, the smell of two stroke everywhere, and the Skeg rally was buzzing. Though I didn’t have that much chance to enjoy it - there’s always next year!

Huge thanks to Rob Quartermain, and Sam and Simon Gee for taking the time to sit down and share their scootering stories—can’t wait to listen back.

Well worth the trip up to be part of the panel talking about seasides and subcultures at Scarborough Library and listening to stories about the local music scene. They showed how vibrant and creative local scenes in small towns used to be. Many thanks to organiser of the exhibition Ian Trowell for the invite.

I‘ve spent the last few days in Altanta at the Popular Culture Studies conference. I was there to give a talk on how 2 Tone is remembered in music documentary film — really nice to have some ska fans in the room and chat about the links between the British and American scenes 🏁🏁🏁

A fun conference and managed to spend a bit of time looking round the city. Atlanta’s got a nice vibe. Everyone’s very friendly and welcoming. And of course, being the home of Martin Luther King Jr., it’s been cool to visit some of the civil rights museums and monuments — a highlight of the trip.
