We are delighted to share details of a FREE event for our staff and students, hosted by our strategic partner, Bradford City AFC.

Focused on the topic of ‘Responsible Management’, the event on Friday 30th October will welcome guest speaker, Mark Bjornsgaard, founder and CEO of Deep Green Energy, to Mbanq (Valley Parade) and offer free refreshments to attendees. This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase the impact of our partnership with Bradford City AFC and the valuable experiences it creates for our students, connecting them with industry leaders and offering insights beyond the classroom.

The event is open to all University staff and students and recommended particularly for those who have an interest in responsible management / sustainability / artificial intelligence / sustainable futures etc.

A student-led project at the University of Bradford is seeking to raise £40,000 to help launch a satellite into space next year. 🛰️

Students from the Bradford Rocketry, Aviation & Satellite Society (BRASS) are developing the award-winning Bradford-RFI-1, a cube-shaped satellite measuring just 5cm on each side and weighing around 250g. The project is helping strengthen the University's growing reputation for innovation in science, engineering and space technology, supported by facilities including the Bradford-Renduchintala Centre for Space AI and the Polymer Micro and Nano Technology Centre within the Institute of Digital and Sustainable Futures.

The team, supported by the University of Bradford Union of Students, has already secured $10,000 in seed funding through an international competition but needs further backing to cover launch, licensing and insurance costs.

Zahid Hasan Shovon, team leader and MSc Satellite Systems Engineering student, said: "This project is about much more than launching a satellite. We are representing the University of Bradford, the city of Bradford and the UK on an international stage.

"We're proving what students can achieve when they're given the opportunity to tackle real-world challenges. We hope our success inspires other young people to pursue careers in science, technology and space."

The Bradford-Renduchintala Enterprise Ecosystem (BREE) Entrepreneurship Discovery Programme (EDP) offers an opportunity to take the next step.

This practical programme is designed to support University of Bradford students and staff in developing their ideas into credible business propositions.

You do not need an established business, a completed business plan or previous entrepreneurial experience. The programme welcomes individuals with an idea, the motivation to explore its potential and a commitment to developing it further.
