We're so pleased to share that our colleague Nicki Wisbey has recently become a Provisional Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst in the psychotherapy field, PTSTA (P). It's a significant achievement and one we're genuinely delighted to celebrate with her.

Nicki is now available to offer TA supervision, and describes her approach as a reflective, supportive and collaborative space to explore the many facets of being a therapist. That includes clinical practice, professional development, relational dynamics, and the richness and complexity of therapeutic work itself. If you're looking for supervision with someone who has trained deeply in transactional analysis, Nicki can be contacted at [email protected].

Please join us in congratulating her. Moments like this remind us how much goes into reaching this kind of milestone, years of study, practice, and personal reflection.

This week I (Patrick) had the joy of collaborating with the wonderful hearts and minds of Rachel Cook and Keith Tudor on our three-day 'Next Steps in Your TA Development' workshop at Connexus Institute in Brighton & Hove.

It was a real pleasure to work alongside Transactional Analysts at every stage of their journey, from those early in their training to deeply experienced colleagues, all of them committed to growth, honest reflection, and the kind of authentic, co-created relationship that sits at the heart of TA.

Three days of rich conversation, preparation, 'unblocking' and genuine connection have left me full of gratitude & admiration, and reminded me once again why community matters so much in this work.

My thanks to everyone who brought such energy, openness and curiosity. I feel lucky to have been part of it.

A wonderful weekend at Connexus.

It's been a brilliant weekend here at Connexus Institute. Patrick Brook has been running our TA 101, welcoming a new group into the world of Transactional Analysis, while upstairs our fourth-year cohort have been in session with the wonderful Keith Tudor.

We are so delighted to have welcomed Keith to Connexus to teach our advanced trainees. They've had a rich, generous, and thought-provoking weekend with him, and the energy in the room speaks for itself.

A heartfelt thank you to Keith, and to all the excellent guest tutors who come to teach with us throughout the year. It's their generosity, expertise, and willingness to share that makes our psychotherapy training so rich and so distinctive. We feel very lucky.

Here's to many more weekends like this one.

Last night we had the privilege of hosting Professor Keith Tudor for a wide-ranging, generous, and quietly electric "fireside chat" with a packed room of practitioners.

Keith is the 2025 recipient of the Carl Rogers Award from the Society for Humanistic Psychology (American Psychological Association), recognising his distinguished lifetime contribution to humanistic psychology. He has also received the Eric Berne Memorial Award twice, in 2020 with Graeme Summers for their work on co-creative transactional analysis, and again in 2025 for revitalising and advancing the critical and social edge of TA.

The questions from the audience were excellent and varied, and Keith's responses ranged across the theoretical and political, the cultural therapist, pluralism in psychotherapy, the place of AI in our field, through to the practical and pedagogical, including the role of process groups in clinical training. Woven through it all were more personal threads: questions about legacy, what he's most proud of, and the specific achievements behind a remarkable career.

It was the kind of evening that reminds you why we do this work in community rather than in isolation.

Huge thanks to Hulya Ho**er, who organised the event with her characteristic care and warmth, and to everyone at CPD Sussex for making it happen.

CPD Sussex is an initiative supporting the professional development of counsellors and psychotherapists in Brighton & Hove and the wider region. Born from a partnership between New Road Psychotherapy and Connexus Institute. We look forward to seeing you at another of our excellent events!

On Tuesday 19th May, CPD Sussex welcomed Rory Singer for what turned out to be a really rich afternoon. His talk, 'Between Shame and Superiority: Working Clinically with Boarding School Histories', opened up territory that doesn't always get much space in clinical training, the long shadow of early separation, the particular defences that can form around it, and what it means to sit with a client who may not yet have the language for what they're carrying.

A genuine thank you to Rory for sharing his thinking so generously.

If you'd like to come along to a future CPD Sussex event, you can find out more and browse upcoming dates here: https://www.eventbrite.com/cc/cpd-sussex-events-4677763

Has this kind of material come up in your own practice? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments.

What do you do when your client's pain isn't about the past, but about what their life means?

Rachel Cook's Intro to Existential TA brings five stages of adult development into focus — from establishing presence in the world, through mid-life questioning, to legacy and integration.

A one-day CPD intro for practitioners curious about where Transactional Analysis and existential thought meet.

Celebrating Amanda Bradley: newly endorsed PTSTA (P)

Pictured: Amanda's very twisted arm. She maintains we had to twist it. We maintain it was gentle encouragement. The truth, as ever, lies somewhere in the middle. 😉

Whatever the story, Amanda has just completed her TEW (Training Endorsement Workshop) with IBOC and is now a Provisional Teaching and Supervising Transactional Analyst in the psychotherapy field - a significant milestone in any TA practitioner's journey, and one that requires real commitment, courage, and clinical depth.

Connexus Institute has been very pleased to have been involved in supporting Amanda on her path, and we are delighted to see her step into this new role.

Amanda is now taking on supervisees for TA supervision and welcomes direct enquiries:

On the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia, we recognise the importance of dignity, safety, and belonging for LGBTQIA+ people everywhere. This year’s theme, At the heart of democracy, offers a reminder that people deserve not only protection from harm but to have their voices heard: in public life, in the communities they live in, and in the spaces where they come to speak about their experience. Observed each year on 17 May, the day calls attention to the discrimination that still exists and the ongoing need for care, respect, and inclusion.

At Connexus, we are mindful that this matters in therapeutic work too. To be listened to seriously, to be met without assumption, and to be able to speak from one’s own experience are not small things. They are part of what makes safety, dignity, and genuine contact possible.

It is also part of why Lauren Turner’s upcoming workshop at Connexus, Unlearning Straight Lines, feels so timely, offering one contribution to the ongoing reflection that LGBT+ therapeutic practice continues to call for. More information is available on our website.
