Want to learn about Computer Science at University?
Register for the free 3-day discovery labs for Year 12 students who identify as female or non- binary: https://shorturl.at/jirt7 or click the link in our bio.
The free three-day Discovery Labs, are designed for Year 12 students from all study pathways (including A-levels, T-levels, BTECs, Access courses, or other computing-related programmes) who identify as female or non-binary, and who are interested in exploring Computer Science at University level.
We aim to engage and inspire students who identify as female, particularly those who are traditionally underrepresented in the professional community, to explore opportunities in Computer Science and consider future pathways in this field. This programme offers a valuable opportunity to connect with like-minded and motivated peers, while participating in a carefully designed experience that builds confidence, nurtures curiosity, and encourages their meaningful contribution to this exciting and evolving field of study and work.
The workshops will celebrate the breadth of Computer Science, covering topics such as Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics, Creative Coding, Data Science and Environmental Modelling, and Human–Computer Interaction. Students will also have the opportunity to hear from academic staff about their research, as well as gain valuable insights into future study and career pathways within the field.
The Discovery Labs will take place on 29 June, 30June, and 1 July at the University of Sussex, located in Falmer with convenient access to bus and train routes. The event is sponsored by BCS, and funding is available to support student travel where needed.
Please note that places are limited; while we will endeavour to accommodate as many students as possible, we encourage early registration to avoid disappointment. We will send a letter outlining required permissions to each student via email to formally confirm their place and any allocated funding for travel.
