This year, the University of Bristol Professional Liaison Network (PLN) is facilitating almost 40 Applied Extended Projects, bringing together postgraduate Business School students working in groups to deliver on an industry project brief.

“Earlier this year, a few Business School students had the opportunity to attend Purposefest 2026 at Bristol Beacon where they joined conversations around sustainability, responsible leadership, impact and the future of business. From networking with professionals to reflecting on personal purpose, students shared takeaways that went far beyond the classroom; some left with new career ideas, some with dissertation inspiration, and others with a different perspective on what business can look like in practice. One thing came through consistently: the most meaningful conversations were the ones that felt open, practical, and action-focused. A huge thank you to everyone who shared their reflections and experiences!” 👏👏

For World Autism Acceptance Month, we’re spotlighting some of the ways the University of Bristol Business School support autistic and neurodiverse students to feel understood, prepared and able to thrive:

1. Dedicated support for disability and Study Support Plans (SSPs)🤝
SSPs offer personalised recommendations that help students get the most out of their studies, reflecting their individual needs and learning styles. They also guide staff in creating a more consistent, predictable learning experience. Our teams work closely with students, central services and academics to ensure this support is meaningful and put into practice.
2. Clear, accessible communication 🌿
Miscommunication can be a significant barrier. We’re working to make our information simpler, clearer and easier to navigate—reducing jargon, using more student‑friendly language and aligning with the Business School’s Accessible Communication Drive.
3. More inclusive events🎤
We want every student to feel comfortable and prepared when attending Business School events. This means providing Accessibility Statements or Event FAQs that outline available adjustments, sensory packs, quiet spaces, and what to expect in terms of lighting and sound. These small, practical details help reduce uncertainty and support students before they even arrive.

Small changes like these can make a big difference, especially for autistic students. We’re working towards an environment where every autistic and neurodiverse student can belong, participate and thrive.

We’re looking back on the Clifton Dinners that we hosted across February and March 2026. These dinners brought together our University of Bristol Business School undergraduate students with alumni and guests from industry as an opportunity to build community while sharing good food and great conversation. Here’s what one of our students had to say:
 
“It was a lovely evening and great opportunity to connect with friends and alumni. I think the stand out of the evening was the guest speaker who talked compellingly and provided insightful advice about entrepreneurship. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to expand their professional connections and meet likeminded peers!”
