We celebrated our very first Student Teaching Awards last night 🏆

These awards recognise the incredible staff and teams who make a real difference to teaching and the student experience across the University.

Co-created with Bristol Students’ Union, students have been at the heart of the awards, from nominating and shortlisting to presenting on the night.

With more than 600 nominations submitted, it’s clear just how much impact great teaching and support have on our community.

Guests also enjoyed brilliant performances from the String Quartet Society and the Bristol University Latin American and Ballroom Dancing Society, showcasing the amazing talent of our students.

Congratulations to all the nominees and winners 👏

A night to remember ✨

Yesterday evening, we celebrated the power of sport and our remarkable athletes, coaches, and volunteers who have excelled over the past 12 months.

Our annual Reds Awards, held at Goldney Hall, were also an opportunity to recognise how sport brings people together, on and off the pitch, by promoting a sense of belonging, removing barriers to participation, and recognising achievement comes in many forms.

We were delighted to be joined by special guest Sabrina Pace-Humphreys , ultra-runner and co-founder of Black Trail Runners, along with our Vice-Chancellor Evelyn Welch.

Congratulations to this year’s winners; you are all role models and continue to be a source of inspiration 👏 💫

A major milestone reached ⏱️

The main phase of construction is now complete on the flagship building of our new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus!

It’s been incredible to see the transformation of the derelict Royal Mail Sorting Office site into a new space for learning, collaboration and innovation - plus new public spaces, walking and cycling routes to connect it with the city 🧑‍🎓✨

A huge thank you to everyone who has played a part in getting us here and bringing the project to life, including Sir Robert McAlpine, our partners, suppliers and colleagues across the University.

Watch the video below for a glimpse inside as we enter the final phase before opening our doors to students, staff, partners and the wider community in September… 👇

Happy 100th Birthday, Sir David Attenborough! 🎂

Today, we celebrate a century of inspiration from one of the world’s greatest naturalists.

Sir David was awarded an honorary degree from the University in 1977 and has since filmed programmes with our academic experts, opened our Life Sciences and Animal Welfare and Behaviour buildings, and received the Lifetime Achievement Award at our inaugural Alumni Awards 🏆

Here’s to 100 remarkable years, and to a legacy that continues to inspire generations at Bristol and beyond! 🌍

Lights, Camera, Reaction! 🎥

This week, our Smart Cinema is being put to the test, capturing an audience’s response to a film for the very first time.

The one-of-a-kind cinema looks at how audiences respond to what they’re watching, measuring reactions such as heart rate and eye movement.

This will help build a clearer picture of what pulls people into a story and will be used by filmmakers to inform the editing process.

MyWorld's Smart Cinema is based at The Sheds, within the University of Bristol’s new Temple Quarter Enterprise Campus.

An audience of 200 watched short sci-fi film RENO as part of the study. Produced by Lux Aeterna, RENO was also filmed in MyWorld’s experimental studio on its virtual production stage.

🐣 Chicks feel ‘egg-stra’ happy with gentle human touch!

Just like our pets, chicks benefit from calm, gentle human contact. 🐤 💖
