Preparing for, introducing and presenting your work in research seminars is part of the requirements of taught MA and PGR work but no-one ever tells you what to do about the associated anxiety. Being able to present your ideas effectively is a skill that can be learnt. Darrelyn Gunzburg, PhD candidate History of Art, trained as a theatre director at NIDA in Australia and is also an experienced presenter. In this seminar she offers techniques on how to tame apprehension, focus on the task at hand and enjoy the experience.
The initial seminar offers skills with the opportunity for participants to ask questions. The second seminar is a practical session where up to 6 participants can run their own 10-minute presentation several times, applying the techniques that have been learnt the week before with Darrelyn giving suggestions and feedback. Session slots for this optional seminar can be booked directly with Darrelyn after the first seminar.
