The Alumni Dinner is getting ever closer and we (Amy!) is trying to tie down numbers for the event for the caterers. I am mindful that many have said they are unable to attend this year and that is evident from the low numbers currently committed. Could I ask all members to let us know, one way or the other – unless they have already done so, of their intent to attend. If we cannot make a minimum of 100 people this year then we will, in all probability, pull stumps (unfortunately) on this year’s event.

Ladies and Gentlemen of BUOTC Alumni,

Plans for the Alumni Families Day Picnic at RMAS are progressing with
great zeal! In addition to providing a fabulous location for a get
together, BUOTC have organised a number of attractions to make the
event a truly enjoyable day out for the entire family.

The BUOTC enclosure will include a bouncy castle, tents and picnic rugs,
a burger van as well, as an ice cream seller to supplement your own
picnic. We have also been invited to an exclusive tour of Old College, a
once in a lifetime opportunity to view this historic building and hear
the stories from its colourful and prestigious past. And of course, you
will be able to ramble around the grounds at leisure - a perfect setting
to enjoy a spring day.

This, together with non stop action on the sports fields, with BUOTC
competing against the other OTCs to win the coveted Queen's Challenge
Cup, will make for a fabulous day out for all the family. The day
starts with an opportunity for catching up with old friends from 12.30.
Non-stop competitions will then take place through out the afternoon, so
you are encouraged to support the cadets! The competitions will take a
pause with champagne and cakes at 1630 in the Bristol tent, and the
final medal presentation will complete at 1830.

Please do come and join us, but you must let Amy know you are attending
(names and vehicle details) by Friday 18 April.

The Lord Mayors Big Curry Supper 2014

This isn't an Alumni Event as such, but Alumni Members are more than welcome to attend. The event is being held here at the Artillery Grounds on 15th May 2014.

The Lord Mayor of Bristol invites you to a Curry Supper. With delicious curry, great beer, the buffet format and informal seating encourages guests to mingle with other attendees. This is a brilliant opportunity to show your support for The Soliders' Charity.

Tickets for the Supper – only £12.50 and including a 2 course curry supper, beer and soft drinks are now on sale, so book early to avoid disappointment.

The Supper will be held in 2 sittings:

Sitting One: 1730 hrs - 1830 hrs

Sitting Two: 1900 hrs - 2000 hrs

Every year there are serving and former soldiers, and their dependants, who find themselves facing real hardship: The elderly widow trying to get by on a modest pension, who can’t afford to pay for her husband’s funeral; a redundant soldier with a young family who has been unable to find a civilian job and can’t pay the rent; the young soldier whose life-changing wounds have ended his Army career.

They did their duty and we think they deserve our support. ABF The Soldiers’ Charity acts swiftly in time of need, providing over 6,000 financial grants each year. This makes us the backbone of support to the Army family.

We are being called upon to provide more and more grants to individuals each year. The cost of our grant programme has doubled since 2006. Soldiers risk their lives for us. Please help us to be there for soldiers and former soldiers, and the families who rely on them, in their hour of need.

If you support our soldiers, or have a connection with the Army, please support The Soldiers’ Charity today.
