✅ Another winter project complete.

This Jaguar XK120 came to us with a broken windscreen, poor condition frame furniture and a misfitting roof.

We stripped and put in a new screen, adjusting the frame and roof to fit correctly at the same time - a delicate and time consuming job as you can imagine!

The side screens also needed to be taken off their frames. The frames were modified as necessary to get them all to align exactly, extending if required and then refurbishing the original frame furniture for those also.

Finally, alterations were required to the roof material and around the side screens, which was carried out by our specialist friends over at Custom Stitched.

Delivered back to our customer, he was delighted with the improvements made to the XK120 and the care taken by us to restore the old elements, making them both work better and look as good as new.

We always strive to restore original components wherever possible to maintain the authenticity of the vehicle in our care.

If you have a classic that could do with some TLC prior to coming out to play this summer season, please get in touch to check slot availability.

Here's an interesting project we've just been working on!

This Series I Landrover was purchased at auction a year ago by our customer. Despite it driving terribly (for those familar with Landies, we mean "more than usual"), he had been out and about in it ... until a water hose burst and broke the fan. Time to come in and get things sorted!

Once the hose and fan were dealt with, we carried out further fault investigative work, leading to sorting out oil leaks, steering, brakes etc, before fitting new tyres to finish off.

Our customer has reported back that he is enjoying applying the brakes and the Landrover actually stopping now! Steering in a straight line is now achieveable! 55 mph can be reached!

With experience preparing Landrovers for international rallies, full nut and bolt long term restoration projects and general repair/maintenance, improvement/development work, to find out how we could improve your driving experience.

🙌 Well folks, we’ve finally all made it through to the end of January! 🥳 Bring on the weekend! 🍻🍷

Before we kick off Season 2026 though, we just wanted to briefly explain what’s been happening over the last couple of months and why we’ve not been active on our social media platforms.

One of the lynch pins of our family business, Simon, had a heart attack! As always with these things, it was totally unexpected and naturally, our focus shifted in the immediate aftermath, to the practicalities of family life in the lead up to Christmas, treatment and recovery.

With a man down, the workshop side of the business has focused firstly on getting a long term project out of the door as planned (we’ll tell you all about that another day) and finishing off some smaller jobs that were already in progress before the festive break. The office has kept customers in the loop and continued to deal with day-to-day management, plus helping out downstairs where possible. No time for frivolous socials though!

❤️ We're now very pleased to report that Simon is well on the road to recovery and back at work. A massive shout out and thanks to the Royal Papworth Hospital for cutting edge angioplasty and to the various teams over at West Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust that have also been involved with his care. As Simon puts it himself, he’s had a re-bore and a new liner fitted and is good to go! 👍

Wishing you all a happy and, most importantly, healthy 2026. Carpe diem!

Back soon with all the car news you love from the workshop 😊

Exciting times this week!

This is a long term nut and bolt restoration project fresh out of our workshop ready for its first test drive.

Every vehicle we restore has a wonderful story behind it. This Series III Landrover belonged to our customer’s parents and now has a new lease of life and adventures to look forward to with her.

And now for something completely different!

After a long term restoration of this Rolls Royce Phantom II, which we’ll tell you about in another post, we are now at the stage of putting some mileage on it before handing it back to its owner. This is to snag it and make sure everything is working as predicted.

Here it is last week warming up for a trip to the North Norfolk coast and back. Where will we take it today?

Is it really three weeks since we were all at Revival?!

For those of you who have withdrawal symptoms (we can’t be the only ones!), here are our last few shots of the weekend, looking at some more of the behind the scenes and wonders that make up Revival.

Following a week of physically recovering, unloading and washing many vehicles and equipment, washing and packing away the vintage togs, having a wash up meeting of the event, collating and archiving the paperwork (which was also a bit soggy!), we’ve been busy regrouping for the winter season and continuing with other projects, but more of that soon …

GOODWOOD REVIVAL
ST MARY’S TROPHY RACE PART II
RACE REPORT

🌨️☔️💦 💨

Very different (and difficult) conditions for Matt taking part in the last race of Revival 2025 at 18:00. It was overcast with wind and heavy rain.

Matt started from P13, Row 5, on the grid, his Friday quali session being compromised by a misfire. Sitting alongside him were Tom Chilton in the #71 Alfa and James Thorpe in the #3 A40.

Due to the unrelenting rain, the race began with two laps under the safety car. This did not work out well for all the drivers, with a number struggling to keep up and resulting in a split pack.

As far as our race was concerned, UCE 13 had never tested or raced in the wet since its restoration prior to coming back out on track in 2019! We have always been lucky with the weather before! This meant a not too soft set up, which was not ideal, particularly in these extreme conditions. It took half the race for the tyres to come up to temperature meaning it was difficult to get any feeling of the car.

💡On a positive note though, the lights and wipers all worked - we haven't had to use those before! And the car didn't steam up! So little wins right there!

🙏 Matt did his best with the hand he was given and finished the race a very respectable P10. We are very grateful to him for bringing the car home all in one piece given the conditions out there.

And so, we learn more as we do every time we come to Revival.

Back home and unpacked, UCE 13 now needs a jolly good clean as you can imagine! Oh, and a bit of TLC cosmetically in due course.

We've returned with more ideas for further improvements as the car currently stands, the knowledge that the regulations are definitely going to change again for 2027 (although as yet we don't know what difference those will make) and a need to somehow time a test day with inclement weather!

We'll share a few more snippets over the next few days as we put to bed Revival 2025, before we start to look forward to our winter season in the workshop.

After getting thoroughly soaked (yet again!) packing up the Shelter contents and UCE 13 down at the Goodwood Revival, the last remaining team members returned to base camp at 21:30 Sunday night to bed down for the night exhausted from the weekend, and to sit out the gale force winds predicted!

After travelling back yesterday, there was only one way the day could end. A takeaway, beer and watching the races from the comfort of the sofa!

Back in the workshop today, it’s been a case of unloading all the vehicles and kit, before making a start on pressure washing many muddy things!

We’ll post our final round up of the event later this week when we finally return to the office!

Thanks everyone for sharing our Goodwood Revival 2025 experience with us and supporting the team 💪😍
