About Catalyse

The Catalyse entrepreneurship programme is run by Nucleate, a student-led innovation community with a proven track record of supporting high-impact venture creation, through its flagship Activator programme.

Catalyse is an early-stage counterpart to the Nucleate Activator programme, aimed at arming life scientists and engineers of all levels of expertise at UK institutions, with the basic knowledge needed to take their first steps as bio-entrepreneurs.

The 2023 programme will kick off with a series of weekly Core Sessions: masterclasses delivered by established biotech entrepreneurs, investors and industry experts, scheduled to take place over 5 weeks from 9th February to 9th March 2023.

This will be followed by Team Formation Sessions, where participants will be given the option to form a team, with whom to put into practice what has been learnt during the Core Sessions. Teams will be mentored over the proceeding several weeks by members of the Nucleate UK Leadership Team, as well as the broader Nucleate network.

Finally, Catalyse will culminate in the Demo Day in the spring, where top teams will be given the opportunity to pitch to a panel of expert judges, with the chance to win a cash prize.

Whether you have a start-up idea you would like to explore, or are simply curious to learn more about entrepreneurship, don’t hesitate to apply today!

Apply now to join the 2023 cohort of the free Nucleate UK Catalyse entrepreneurship programme.

In alliance with the MPhil in Bioscience Enterprise (MBE) programme, our friends at Entrepreneur First and the MBE are excited to launch their first-ever fireside chat in the University of Cambridge at Queens' College!
If you want to learn more about or get involved in the biotech and start-up world, come join for their very first in-person event with guest speaker Dr Quin Wills next Thursday, 12th May!
Dr. Quin Wills is an MD/PhD with few extra degrees in genomics, mathematics, and statistical/machine learning. He uses deep genomic phenotyping technologies to develop RNA therapies for chronic liver disease. He started his first liver genomics company 17 years ago, and was most recently Head of Cellular and Systems Genomics for Novo Nordisk before co-founding Ochre Bio. Ochre Bio is a series A company, with labs in Oxford, Taipei, and New York where they regenerate human livers not good enough for transplantation. Think farms of livers on machines being refurbished by direct RNA reprogramming, so that fewer patients die waiting for a new liver.
Join us in-person with networking events or online virtually with a webinar link available. Food and Drinks will be provided during the networking event!
