Can we really address the crisis in young people's mental health without also thinking about that of their parents?

In a new book, Alix Hearn, a child psychotherapist and teaching associate at the University of Cambridge, makes the case for a "sea-change" in youth mental healthcare, arguing that children's distress cannot be separated from their parents' anxieties and the unremembered legacies - or "ghostly attachments" passed down through families.

Read our summary here: https://content.educ.cam.ac.uk/content/2606-hearn

Alix's book, "Places of Safety" is published by Karnac Books, and is available to purchase via their website - www.karnacbooks.com

We're here... end of year exams 🫣

This week our undergraduate students begin three weeks of exams ✍️

Whether you're a first, second or third year, here are some tips to get through the next month:
🩷 Double and triple check where and when your exams are (you don't want all that hard work to go to waste by not going to the write exam hall!) 🕘️
🩷 Your brain needs sleep in order to consolidate memories (so no pulling all nighters before an exam!) 💤
🩷 Staying hydrated is also important for optimal brain function, so keep your water bottle topped up 🫗
🩷 The brain is an organ like any other, and organs need fuel! Eat fibre (vegetables and dark leafy greens) for slow energy release, protein (fatty fish, chicken, eggs, beans and nuts) for brain health, whole grains (brown rice, bread and pasta) for stable energy levels and vitamin C (fruit like oranges, blueberries and blackberries) to boost your immune system 🥦🐟️🫘🍝🍊

Deep breaths, good luck - you've got this! 🍀🤞🫡
