Congratulations to Professor Amy Milton, who has been installed as Downing’s new Vice-Master! 🎉

A Fellow since 2007, Professor Milton is a behavioural neuroscientist whose research explores memory reconsolidation and its potential to inform treatments for mental health conditions. She succeeds Professor Zoe Barber, to whom we extend our sincere thanks for her work and support in the role.

Congratulations to Justin Davies, Verjee Fellow in Medicine, who has been awarded the title of Affiliated Professor in the University of Cambridge's School of Clinical Medicine, in recognition of his excellence in research. 🎉

It is the highest academic position possible for an NHS-employed consultant with a research interest.

The undergraduate admissions team at Downing College extends its congratulations to all students who submitted their UCAS applications. Candidates are reminded that the admissions process includes further mandatory steps:

💻My Cambridge Application: This supplementary online form must be submitted no later than Thursday, 22 October at 6:00pm UK time. Candidates will receive a link to complete this within 48 hours of their UCAS submission.

✍ Written Work and Supporting Documents: For courses requiring submission of written work, or if candidates would like to include supporting documentation (transcripts or extenuating circumstances evidence), the Downing College Candidate Portal will open during the week commencing 26 October. The final deadline for these submissions is Wednesday, 4 November.

We recommend candidates check their emails regularly for correspondence from the College or University.

We wish candidates all the best and look forward to reading their applications.

Downing’s Giving Day has come to a close and, on behalf of our students, Fellows and staff, thank you for making it such a tremendous success.

Together, we have raised an extraordinary £110,571 from 323 alumni, friends and supporters. Every gift will create opportunities for our students through bursaries and scholarships, enhanced wellbeing support, and exceptional teaching and extracurricular experiences.

Meet Nathan Fairbrother-Davis (2026) who is studying Modern and Medieval Languages.

A student bursary has made it possible for Nathan to make the most of his time at Downing without financial pressures getting in the way.

His bursary has helped him afford essential textbooks and course materials, while also giving him the opportunity to take part in experiences outside of College.
