What a term it has been at CUPPS!

With many open mic nights, visiting writers, and an exhibition, we’ve been keeping very busy. We wanted to thank you, our CUPPS community, for the enthusiasm and kindness you have shown us so far this year!

Join us in the King’s Art Rooms for an exciting hands-on illustration and writing workshop with award winning children’s author and illustrator Gillian McClure!

Expect to hear more on Gillian’s work, and accompanying illustrative and writing tasks!!
So if you like to draw, write, or are interested in publishing, this is for you!!⭐️

“In 2010, Gillian McClure launched her publishing company, Plaister Press, to be a platform for new picture books as well as backlist titles. Plaister Press has enabled her to enjoy greater creative freedom, away from the constraints of the mass market and to gain new insights into the publishing industry.

During her career as a published author, Gillian McClure has served on the children’s writers and illustrators’ group committee of the Society of Authors and the Public Lending Right advisory committee. She has been an Escalator Literature mentor and has given many talks and workshops at conferences and in schools and libraries.” - The Royal Literary Fund

✨ Save the date! ✨

You are warmly invited to the opening of ‘Seeing in Stanzas’, our first exhibition in partnership with , at 7.30pm on Friday 13th March in The Coach House, Murray Edwards College.

The exhibition will see a wonderful array of artworks displayed alongside verse written in response by students and local writers, aiming to de-centre the authority of the artist so as to encourage the viewer to embrace the subjectivity of their own responses.

And the best part… entry is FREE!

If you are unfortunately unable to make the opening, please know that the exhibition will be running until Friday 20th March.

Calling all writers!!! 🌟🌟 We are teaming up with the new History of Art and Architecture Society for their inaugural exhibition, ‘Seeing in Stanzas’, this Lent, and we are currently in search of writers to contribute written pieces to the exhibition.

We will be displaying works by student artists alongside verse written in response by local and student poets, aiming to de-centre the authority of the artist (their interpretation of their own work), encouraging the viewer to embrace their subjective response to art, just as the poets will have done for each piece.

We’ve already secured an excellent variety of pieces, and there may even be a short film (see some examples above!)

It will be a fantastic, low commitment opportunity to meet fellow creatives and have your work displayed in an exhibition.
