JOIN THE JCR! 👀

As many of you already know ... the JCR is running its Michaelmas election very soon! With the bar to save and a lot of other projects to get involved with, there has never been a better time to join the JCR!

You will gain lots of skills (like our VP Emily Lawson-Todd who made this magnificent poster) and work with a lovely group of people ʕ•́ᴥ•̀ʔっ

There are a lot of roles on offer so please shop around. Feel free to message me if you are interested and want to know more ~

Roles on Offer

• President (JCR experience recommended) - In charge of the running of the whole JCR, a large commitment but also hugely rewarding

• Treasurer - MONEY! In charge of the financial well-being of the JCR - sets the budget and is in charge of reimbursements

• Secretary - COMMUNICATIONS! Write newsletters, in charge of SSCSU Instagram, suitable for someone good with their words and images

• Women and NB Officer - represent the view of women and NB students at Sidney, advocate for their wellbeing and run the FemSoc

• Accommodation and Catering Officer - help us make college accommodation and catering better: Work with college to fix the showers!

• Female Welfare Officer - taking care of student welfare and put on wellbeing events

• Gender and Sexual Minorities Welfare Officer - the first time the role is put up for election! Support the welfare of non-binary, trans and other GSM students at Sidney

• Bar Manager - oversees the running of the Sidney bar, the HEART of Sidney's social life

• Freshers Representatives (a pair) - FRESHERS!! did you enjoy the Fresher's week put on by Diya and Hannah? Apply so you run the show next year

• Entertainment Officers (*4) - loves DJ-ing or putting on events? This is the perfect role for you! Run the college Bops or whatever other event you want to put on

• Bar Committee (*3) - support the bar manager in making the bar super fun

Hi all! Just a friendly reminder that tomorrow is local elections. If you're registered to vote, and haven't sent a postal vote in yet, you'll need to go to the Methodist Church on the roundabout at the end of King Street (i.e. sandwiched between Christ's Pieces, Jesus College and Midsummer Common). It's important that everyone who can goes to vote, as the Cambridge City Council manages a lot of things important to student life.

Collections for Ukraine

We are partnering with MCR and Selwyn to collect necessary goods and send them to various collection sites around the UK.

Collections will be divided and sent to sites in Cambridge (going to Polish borders), and a site in London (going to Ukraine).

There are two collection box in the JCR room for this. We especially invite you to contribute by way of non-perishable food (including baby food), medicine, sanitation products, clothing, blankets, flashlights, sleeping bags, batteries, powerbanks and toys.

Hi guys,
If anyone has any flags flying out of their windows (rooms/communal areas) can you move them inside windows as soon as possible. This is to ensure that we're following the new flag policy (can be found on sidnet).
You're more than welcome to fly them inside the windows as long as they are not prohibited flags.
We are sorry about this but we had to make this compromise in order for College to fly the trans flag. Thank you.
