Clare College Music Society (CCMS) is one of the most highly regarded music societies in Cambridge, giving students from Clare (and the university as a whole) the opportunity to be involved in music of the highest standard. It not only gives the students from Clare but also from the university as a whole the opportunity to take part in top class music making. Weekly recitals are held in the Colle

ge Chapel every Monday lunchtime at 1.15pm and are attended and enjoyed by fellows, students and members of the public alike. CCMS also stages orchestral and choral concerts in West Road Concert Hall every term, with recent performances including major works such as Tippett’s ‘A Child of Our Time’, Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto and Dvorak’s Ninth Symphony. All Clare musicians are offered the opportunity to perform in front of an audience - Clare Live hosted by Clare Cellars provides open mic nights which have been the platform for many of Cambridge’s most popular artists and bands, and Clare Jazz hosts some of Cambridge’s most popular jazz evenings, also in cellars. The Clare Amateur Music Society also provides events for music making in a collaborative, informal environment. Due to its jam-packed schedule, CCMS is one of the most exciting societies to be a part of in Cambridge. This is of course also helped by its much envied social calendar of post-concert parties and the infamous CCMS Dinner is not one to miss!
